I'm looking for recommendations on a timing belt/water pump change. Somewhere in or around Portland. I have a first gen 2006 at just over 90K.

Anyone have a good shop to recommend?

    Thanks

I still have a young one at home that’s not vax’d, but today marks my 2nd vax+ 2 weeks anniversary. So I’m going out!

Feels good, doesn’t it? I was a lot more excited about hitting that 2 weeks than I thought I’d be.

Yay for beers! Bellevue… hell, that's just down the road from me (in Everett).

Trying to get a coworker to meet up for a drinking/working session now that our two weeks has passed.

For the last five years plus I have used Middleton Motors in Hillsboro for my vehicles. Great independent shop where the owner Tim is still turning wrenches himself along with a small crew. There are places that are cheaper but he does really quality work. Happy to share more on my experience if you are interested.

Thanks Dsptundra, I'll give them a ring.

Anything closer to PDX, getting out to Hillsboro could be an issue.

There’s an independent in Tualatin. Can’t remember the name. I plan on checking them out as both our Toyota’s are about to be out of Toyota care. Haven’t used them yet though.

Got to test out the morning commute today. I forgot how many jerks are on the road in the morning.

My work laptop didn’t like the OS update pushed last night, so I’m chilling at the help desk office now. Good times

JC Motors in Tualatin has been working on the family vehicles for over 20 years and they have been great to work with.

Advance Auto in Tualatin was recommended to me for some Ford work and I have no complaints from a single visit.

All that said, I was recently referred to Henderson Auto in downtown Tigard by my neighbor who has been going there for years. He has all his Tacoma service done by them, and I had a great experience getting my Ford prepped for sale. Seemed honest, up front, and refused to do work that wouldn't make sense for getting rid of the old truck. Highly recommend trying them out.

I’m pretty sure I get those JC Motors flyers in the mail. I just looked it up and I was referring to Toy Doctor on SW Teton. Again, I’ve never used them but they are close(to me) and have good reviews.

Good to know about the other ones though.

    Also welcome @BrunoTheRescuePup

With everyone...or lots of people going back to work soon it’s going to start to suck again. At least my commute isn’t during “normal” hours.

Traffic already stinks. Saw an article about how traffic is bad more hours of the day because of WFH it is easy for people to run errands at 1pm, 2pm, or any other time. Luckily my commute is only 3 miles so even with traffic it goes quick.

Yup your right. I get off work at 1-1:30pm and it’s starting up already. I drive across town from Gresham to Sherwood.

I’ve noticed that too. All the major roads around me seem to consistently have the traffic equivalent to a busy weekend. It kinda sucks, but the 5pm commute with mile long backups on the surface streets is gone.

Oh, that temp! High I saw was about 190 in the pan. Torque converter was a bit higher when not locked up.

Does that thing have a thermometer to regulate when the fluid goes to the heat exchanger? Or is the fluid always going through it?

The transmission cooler kit includes a Toyota transmission thermostat that opens at a predetermined temp just like a thermostat for the engine cooling system. So the warmer puck fed from the engine cooling system brings the trans fluid up to temp when cold and the thermostat stays closed until the temp is reached (~185 I think).

I am liking your post for the dedication, not the traffic. Safe travels!

Also, just realized GN has a west side location. Will be checking it out soon.
