I got a puppy a year and a half ago and for a while when it rained she would just go out the back door and do her business on the doormat. So not long after that during hard storm (for Portland :/ ) I took her to play ball in the rain at the dog park for three hours. She still prefers to stay dry but will get wet if it means getting some action on a rainy day. Maybe yours just need to get over the hump of "ok this isnt great but isn't so bad"

    :rofl::rofl::rofl:
Mine’s a 3-yr old lab. Ball is life for her, and she will chase it in any weather - quite literally.

It was more my lazy ass not wanting to stand in the yard in a downpour this morning while she played her game of bringing it back and then not dropping it for me to throw again. And she will be literally mud and slobber from head to toe if we do it in the yard in the rain.

We went for a mile and a half walk this afternoon when the rain broke (which includes 2 stops each way at two creek crossings and one pond to jump in and get wet). And then we threw the ball for 45 minutes till she couldn’t breathe... cuz if I stop before that she’ll just whine about it.

    :der:

You need one of these. My wife made me build this out shortly after we bought our house. The deal was, I build it, you give the dog baths. I think I came out ahead.

The golden gets a bath every other week. He is also ball obsessed, so much that we have an automatic ball launching machine in the backyard for him. He can go 5+ hours without stopping. No joke.

How do you get your golden in and out? My boy is at 100 lbs (give or take amorning poop) and it's a chore to pick him up.

My wife would love that dog station though!

I thought about doing one of those... just that it wouldn’t work in our front yard and putting it in our laundry room means walking a muddy dog through our gym in the garage, which is a hard NO. I do have hot/cold spigots outside...I should make an outdoor one.

And I also considered a self-serve ball thrower but nothing I found throws them far enough - except maybe if I bought a true pitching machine! I use a Chuck-it and send the ball about 40-45 yards. And Ally is usually out there at about the same time the ball is hitting the ground because she will drop it and haul ass to the other end of the yard.

He’s almost 8 and still jumps in and out on command. I’m sure it’ll get tougher the older he gets.

Here’s to hoping the rain subsides today. The wife wants to plant all her pots today, and I still have some spring cleaning to finish.

Working until 2:30. Then it's chore time around the house. Maybe I'll take the doggos for a drive out to a place they can run free for a bit too.

I have to check the mole traps today too, haven’t caught one in a couple months. I think my kill count was 10 or so last summer.

Our dog is going nuts having been stuck inside all day yesterday. Taking him for a walk soon. His bath appears to have been postponed a day or two.

Then time to load some misc stuff into the trailer and straighten the garage.

Dang, you guys have your hands full. I'm just waking up from night shift. :pccoffee:

Two more shifts then I get a few days off to play catch-up from being gone all last week.

Anyone from/familiar with the Wenatchee, WA area? Looking for some tips on areas to send some down range. All I’ve got so far are private range clubs. Headed up there for a Memorial Day weekend trip and was pondering bringing some pieces along to enjoy time outside.

Pretty familiar, pass through there occasionally. Most state land or NF you are good to go for shooting.
Just the obvious advice for a proper backstop and check for a shooting ban in the dry months, usually July/August.
Blewett pass, Lake Wenatchee, Entiat, Colockum, Methow Valley, Chelan are all great areas for camping/shooting.

Speaking of Wenatchee, we’re hauling the trailer up near Lake Chelan this weekend. First trip of the year (finally)!

    You guys have plans?

Working around our place this weekend, and likely most of May. That preps us to go out and explore most of the summer. Might try and hit Stehekin later this summer though.

Oh hell yeah. Congratulations on the new toy. What are plans for the first trip?

Dunno…I haven’t been there for probably 40 years. We are setting up shop next to a winery, so hopefully the wife and I can stroll down for some samples.

Nice. We are ignoring the yard work this weekend. Will pay for that later.

Gotcha, sounds like a good time.
