    AMP Power Steps
    Hi Everyone,
I am new to the Tundra community and have already benefited from this forum. I had a AMP PowerStep installed by local dealer, but a glitch popped up with the passenger side step. It has a mind of its own and cycles at odd times while driving or sitting. Dealer had AMP send a new module, but no luck as the cycling continues. Called AMP and General responce was that the 2018 Tundra wiring for factory alarm system may be the problem.

I found a great thread with detailed photos this website. I opened the kick panel and found the two hard wired wires were reversed. After switching them, I am waiting for the outcome over the next several days. So far there are no fantum cycling events, but it is early. Local dealer appointment is in a week (they are busy...) and by then will know if the reversed wiring caused the step cycling problem.

    AMP Power Steps
Overdue update...on AMP Powerstep issues on my 2018 Tundra. After several visits to local dealer the right side step’s propensity to wildly extend and retract randomly, the step finally revealed it’s crazy actions while in the shop. Thus it was determined that a new wiring harness was needed. And during this change a broken wire in the old harness was discovered. The break was intermittently connecting and triggering the step repeatedly and intermittently. Solved. Finally. I also understand AMP has changed installation instructions a number of times as witnessed by each newly received set by the dealer.
