Not true. I bought my 2017 in CA with the 38 gallon tank. There’s a larger on you cannot install aftermarket in CA, but you’ll for sure want the 38 gallon. I have a 1st gen as well… the later gens suck waaaaay more gas. A 26 gallon isn’t enough.

Sorry meant adding a 38 gallon. The Limited and 1794 have them stock but SR5 I’m stuck with 26 unless I add an OEM tank later on. Yeah I think it will be must at a later date.

TRD also has a 38 gallon. Anyway, I understand. It’d be nice if we could have a bench seat and the capacity to drive all those people down the road. :ballchain:

Hi.. I'm active over in TacomaWorld but working on something that benefits the Tundra/LC/Sequoia/T4R/LX/GX crowd.

I'm looking for someone in the NorCal South Bay (Sunnyvale area) with a 2UZ-FE 4.7L VVTi V8 vehicle that can help test a set of aftermarket performance vvti solenoids on their truck.

Would like an owner who tracks their fuel economy like religion, comfortable turning a wrench, and ideally, has had their truck dyno-tested in the past (but not a requirement).

Please contact me if you're interested. Thank you!

My truck isn't a show queen, but I could be down. I'm down in Aptos and my 06 4.7 V8 has 230k, but I track it's mileage via the Fuelly app and logs dating back to 2018. Also I need to do my valve covers soon, so could be a good excuse to throw it in at the same time. I've never dyno tested before. Let me know what you think.

my thoughts as well. Sadly the PP market is only 5k lower these days for the same truck. Will have to finance no matter what so might be worth going through a dealer to make it easy.

Yah I remember driving all the way out there about a truck they were “holding “ and when I got there they tried to sell me a brand new truck. After a few words with the salesman and manger I don’t think I was invited back lol

The transmission/transfer case is raw aluminum and the cat guards are steel powder coated black. Brand new in box. $500 picked up in Sacramento.

Other side of the freeway of Aptos, over by the New Leaf. Good eye! Been drooling over your build for years, might have to pick your brain about these trucks sometime.

This last weekend, been looking forever and playing the "maybe in 6 months" game, but pulled the trigger. I definitely overpaid, but I really didn't want my 06 to start having problems and needed a reliable truck to tow our trailer. The family loves it so that's a win for me!

Haha isn't that the truth. Unfortunately I needed a bench seat up front so my options were limited. The truck runs great so no complaints, besides the bend over by the dealer...

Awesome! If you ever decide to dechrome, I have some color matched rear bumper corners I'll have for sale one of these days. And also a honeycomb grille too. Oh, and some retrofit headlights too. lol.

I've definitely been looking into dechroming, surprisingly it doesn't bother me much (maybe because the silver is similar in color). I would be interested in the bumper corners and would love to check out the headlights, haven't driven at night yet, but missed having my retrofits in my old 4runner. There are so many things I want to upgrade (auto up/down switches, suspension, clazzios, softopper/bed cover). Going to be a slow build unless I hit the lottery haha.

The headlights Joon has would be a HUGE improvement. Bumper corners? Mehhh those tend to get torn off.....oh, wait, maybe that's just me:anonymous:

I'll also keep an eye out for a meet up/mod day. I've done some research on these trucks but there are SO many more options/upgrades than my 1st gen. Been good to see some set ups in person and pick everyones brain. This will be a DD/tow rig, so no crazy off-road mods. Did that before to my 2000 4runner and hated wheeling my DD. Mostly comfort mods and eventually the suspension to Fox/King and get rid of the spacers.
