I felt the same  .... Then he said light pinstriping  and I remembered, I ain't pinstriping my baby. I might be down for off-roading as long as it's a trip where pinstriping won't happen .

I'm not planning on going through Marysville. I'll be coming up Hwy 49, so it looks like our routes will intersect around Camptonville. We should probably just plan on meeting in Downieville unless someone has a better idea.

I was worried about pinstriping before Corral Hollow, but then I remembered that I bought a truck. Rubbing some branches on a trail beats the hell out of getting a door ding in a parking lot.

We'll text you on the way with a better ETA. Worst case, if there's no cell coverage we'll just meet at the trailhead between 10:30-11:00.

I think that's what Mark was concerned about... fires on 49. Check to make sure there are no fires on the route.

I hope I won't have to take a long detour. I'll check the Cal Fire site Saturday morning to see what is going on with the Pleasant Fire.

Not sure where most of you guys are but right now, it looks like I'm going to be working in San Jose the week of 9/25. Not sure if I'll have time to get out and get dirty but maybe.

Tell Mark to take off his stupid looking front license plate. It's only a fix it ticket.

I run a front plate. Some people just aren't as much of an outlaw as you.

LOL. One of these days... you're going to go through a giant mud hole and lose your front plate. I think it was Ed that did that.

If I lose my front plate in a mud hole, I need a timeout to think about choices I'm making in my life and people that are a bad influence on me.

Ok, looks like I'm flying into SJC on Monday, 9/25, pretty early in the morning. Staying till Friday. If you, or anyone else, are in the area and want to meet up, let me know.

For anyone wondering, no one lost a front license plate on this trip, but we almost got to see a Chevy rip its entire front fascia off dropping into a water crossing.

Soooo.... a few things we learned about Poker Flat.
    1. It is definitely one of my favorite trails I've been on thus far.
    2. Do not take a 2wd Tacoma unless you want to pull him with a tow strap for 2 hours... uphill.
    3. A stock Chevy cannot do it. He might still be at the bottom for all we know.
    4. A TRD Pro without sliders can get a little body damage. :(
    5. You will get some pinstriping.
    6. The view from the lookout tower is amazing. But the guy manning the tower is very lonely and horny. Don't ask him about his rocks.

I've read this statements before and gotten tgere only to find out the author of the trail description wasn't familiar with what height stock trucks ride.......just sayin

Always compare trail books unless you have plenty of experience with the author

Only because of our long wheelbase. Most of Poker Flat was typical easy trails until we got to the bottom. Then there was a long, rocky uphill climb. Maybe about 2 miles long. It was challenging but our truck's made it up fairly easily. But here's the taco, he literally couldn't get past the first 10 feet. LOL.
