"bro" im not making the comparison, the OP is. In his alternate universe his tundra "is more than an SUV". This remark was made in another thread, then he started a new out of context discussion because his wee-wee felt hurt. Given our limited towing capacity, limited payload, the tundra is pretty much in the same class as a large SUV, simple as that. Towing capacity is close, and SUV payload is the close or greater.

Little pick ups like ours, (including) F150s, 1500s, are pretty limited in doing "real work". Driving around overloaded, doesnt count, that's just being flat out dumb. If towing around your adorable lake boat or garden tractor is your version of work then cool. But if you need to move equipment, serious loads, ours prob isnt the right tool for the job, like any other 1/2 ton. That was my point.

My mantra; I know what my tundra is. I dont make it up to be something its not. defender of reality.

I agree, and I have embraced the reality that my little truck is more like a HD SUV with streetable horse power & torque.

So if you have a "real truck" why do you have a tundra?

I dont ask my tundra to do stuff that it's not suited or unsafe for. Use the right tool for the job.

I understand where you are coming from, and can relate, but you might want to understand that a lot of these guys can't just go get a truck the right size, if they have a heavy duty job in front of them, especially if it is a once in a while thing. I believe that they take pride in the fact that they can count on their Tundra's to tow the line when needed, and I'm pretty sure they don't like being told that they are dumb because they did. We don't all have the money to get the "right" truck when not needed every day. Also Tundra owners probably aren't too Kean on being told what they do with their Tundra's isn't real work. These guys like me take pride in their trucks, and I'm sure most of them work their trucks way harder than a SUV owner, regardless of what the load limits are. It just seems that you bash the truck when the opportunity presents itself. It reality my friend these trucks are TOUGH, I've owned 4 of them and they have never let me down.No offense bro just let me and these guys enjoy stories about our trucks

Is the word 'bash' ever taken seriously?

I enjoy reading stories from the guys that push boundaries with their Tundra trucks, their stories are educational & entertaining. It's your truck and your money, do as you please and stay safe.

I agree with what you said in your post.
and of course we all take pride in our stuff. Even when I'm busy ribbing most of my junk, I still appreciate it for what it is, but it's just stuff.

As to the load limit discussion: A limit, is a limit. I do not take pride in exceeding limits, or doing dumb things that endanger others. Like many here, in lines of work, if you exceed these, people can die. If I can't do something in the envelope, then it's up to me (us) to find a new way that can, Tundra may not be an option.

So "real work" is defined by how heavy the shit is that you're towing or hauling?? Give me a break. Tell that to the millions of half-ton owners who bust their ass with their trucks every day -- and yes, with payloads that are well within the Tundra's capacity.

Unfortunately man will always test limits, it's exactly how we got where we are today, and I agree with not endangering others, but if you know the limits of your truck, and know how far you are exceeding them, mixed with a little common sense, you should be able to at least test yourself without endangering others. But I've never been one to live by lines drawn by others, without testing the waters for myself. And with class a cdls, I don't recall ever endangering others

    lol wow
    no.
This is how people get hurt, when ppl start making it up as they go. "well it's just a little, I know". No you don't.
You really shouldn't hold a CDL with that sort of unprofessional, dangerous mindset. Having a CDL means you should be striving for an even higher standard.

YEAH! NO! You ever drive 5 miles a hour over the limit, ever roll past a stop sign, ever make a illegal turn, ever cut somebody off? Living in NJ I know you have, meaning that you too have endangered the lives of others

towing and payload are a little different than going 5 over. lets use some judgement and reasoning.

Do you know how much a guy is over when he tries, do you know what kind of road he is on, or if he's even on a road, I think you look at this from a NJ prespective, where everyone on the damn road is endangering others.

    Is that really work? :spy::spy:

I wish I had the photo of my truck hauling $45,000 worth of computer hardware to Jacksonville and have some self righteous engineer trying to figure out if that exceeded load limit...:notsure:

Not exactly a heavy load, but it was work, and an opportunity to teach my son about working with your hands and helping others. Don't mind his t-shirt tucked into his gym shorts and mis-matched socks. It's a phase, I hope.
