No Right side trailer turn / stop. Need a Cluster

    my truck is the 2021 sport premium.
    Im trying to search other trims to see if I can see what options that cluster came in.

    New used cluster fixed the issue.
    Found a used part for $350 exact same part# and trailer right side is working properly again. decided to replace the 30amp fuse with a 15 amp fuse.maybe that will protect the circuit if I plug in to a shorted trailer.

    Screenshot_20240530-171025.png One could always add inline fuses for each trailer wire. Something like this might be the answer to prevent blowing the cluster.

    the odometer is a problem. truck has 90k km on it. new od reads 13k km I'm thinking it's a dealer only re programing. was thinking the pcm would display the logged km, but the memory is in the cluster?

    You correct that the odometer has to be reset at the dealership. You might want to get in touch with them. Your probably going to have a problem when it comes time to renew your registration and have to disclose the odometer reading. Definitely don't through the old cluster out.

    Not sure that most dealers can even do that without sending it out to be programmed. When I did the optitron swap in my 2008, none around here could do it. One of them finally gave me the name of a business that could do it, but they couldn’t do it in house.

    And record the exact mileage that was on the old one when you took it out (picture is even better) and the exact mileage on the new one when you put it in. That way you have record of the difference. There’s technically (at least down here) a legit way to record that and fix it to the vehicle B-pillar by the VIN sticker to be considered “legal” (i.e. not falsifying the mileage).

    The dealership can correct it. Only a Toyota master tech can do it. When I was at the dealership I watched the master tech perform an instrument swap and correct the mileage. It requires a call to Toyota for security reasons. I'm in Ontario and I know the problem is that when the vehicle goes through a safety check which is required when a vehicle changes ownership, the odometer reading for the instrument cluster has to be recorded on the safety check paperwork. You should make a call and see what is required just to make sure.

    Would love to have been able to figure out how to do that with techstream… a hell of a lot easier than pulling the coaster apart and hooking up an EEPROM read/writer to the solder leads on the PCB. :spy:

    Yeah but it's not going to happen because of the security for good reason but like you mentioned there is other options. Just got to know "a guy".

    I took my 2019 tundra in for no left blinker issue. They told me the cluster and that it was probably caused by short in my trailer. This is a bad design if the circuits are not fused protected. It has a 30 amp fuse but that does not provide adequate protection if the cluster fries before the fuse. I guess I will fuse all of my circuits on each trailer I own.

    I know!!
    I just ordered some weather proof inline fuses to put on my trailer. I was surprised that the truck circuits were not protected any better than that.

    car-part.com shows 18 different clusters for my 2018 SR5. Same problem with my right and left turn signals.
