Sad news but likely the pro will be back in 2023 or 2024 (my guess).

Toyota likely won't drop the Pro moniker completely, but they will probably take a break from it as seen in prior years after refreshes and when they release new trim packages. We are likely on a pro hiatus for the next couple years while they focus on getting the new generation ironed out. I have zero info to support this, but it would just be foolish to lose the only trim level that competes with the likes of the Raptor, Rebel, and Trailboss.

They also just changed to Fox shocks. Don’t know how long the contract was with Fox, but you would think it would have been longer than 2 model years for Fox to design the shocks for the Tundra. I don’t think the trail edition comes with the Fox shocks.

And stay behind the parts counter since Toyota insists they can only sell them to Pro VINs.

If you can stay off the throttle it does save gas - they're just tuned and geared to be fuel efficient at 80-90 km/h. Drive one at that speed and you get single digit l/100km fuel economy, raise the speed up to 110 km/h and you get 12-13 l/100km. If Toyota gears for real life and not EPA then they'll be able to get around 10 l/100km at 110 km/h (65 mph) with nothing fancy.

I was just claiming it from Fuelly reports. The Raptor averages for the last couple years were all 13/14 avg. The 2.7 EB was ~18 avg. Maybe theyre all mashing the gas, doubtful though.

My numbers are first hand - I've been stuck driving many a Ford at work. Take a nice highway cruise and they will sip fuel - but start driving in the city or actual highway speeds and get ready to see the mileage go down fast. The city mileage can be kept down too, but go over 2k RPM and that's where the boost kicks in. Just like how 19 mpg in a Tundra is doable, mid 20's in an EB is possible with extremely mindful driving. That's where I like Toyota's mileage numbers - 75% of people will meet or exceed them, while Ford is like 5% will meet or exceed them.

450hp + 500tq sounds like too much, plus for a working truck will wear out quick unless they really do over engineer that engine. Still want to see an updated V8 with the dynamic force technology,

I could see them discontinuing the pro for 2021 to sell the trail editions. This would probably be a good move for them actually. It would increase demand. I feel like they pushed the pros pretty hard in 2020. It seems like every dealership has a few on the lot this year. It takes away from rarity. When I got mine you had to order one or get lucky. Every pro that was ordered by dealerships was sold before it was delivered.

The rendering in the second post looks too much like a car or an SUV.

    Curse you Perry the Platypus!
Worse case they get rid of the 5.7 and keep the 4.6 (like what they did with the Tacoma's engine choice). I'd like to see Toyota meet in the middle and offer a 5.0 V8 making the 5.7's numbers. I highly doubt Toyota will get rid of a V8 option in their full size trucks. The big 3 offer V8's plus Toyota knows its market (for the most part).

Did you replace a JBL or non-JBL system?

I like the display and being able to use Gaia GPS and have an integrated system and not have to worry about an auxiliary device to view

I hope they keep the Pro, time will tell. I would rather have a V8 option, but I can live with a TTV6 as long as they do a better job of it than they did with the 3rd gen Taco.

Praying Toyota doesn't miss the mark on this one. Keep the Pro don't give us the gimmicky Trail Edition

I just hope the army green is on every model for the 4Runner next year. Need to upgrade my wife’s ride. I’d buy a pro but I don’t want to spend 50k plus when I can do it all myself and save money. She just wants the color.

I was thinking that, but it will make no difference to me as I won’t be looking to sell anytime in the near future.

Same here. But you can bet I will be test driving one of those 2022's with the 3.5L TT-V6, 450HP and 500Ft Lbs. I bet that sucker will smoke some rubber, lmao.

Fellas need some advice. I'm debating to wait for the new Tundra Pro redesign or trade my current Pro in for a 2020 because it has all the upgrades and stuff I wish my 17' had.
