I've always wanted to start up a business like such... anyone remember the movie Christine? Where he takes car to a shop and he works on car... I'd love to open up something like that...huge place with several car bays all tools n equipment supplied when you rent out a bay also several tech guys to help out when needed

There is a shop like that an hour away from me. It would be nice to have one closer for sure! With no garage, doing some projects just sucks.

I have a 2 car garage attached to my house that fits exactly 0 cars at the moment. Between my kids' bikes, sports equipment, toys and my tools, jacks, wheels and tires, and extra car parts = no parking space. However, I can move it out temporarily for the next mod. Just replaced the radiator in my 14 Durango this past weekend. My wife helped me wrench. Turned out to be fun working with her. Not sure she enjoyed it as much.

I think my wife was really afraid of breaking something if she was too forceful. I told her not to worry, if we broke something we couldn't fix, we'll just roll it into the street and light it on fire. Then we'll buy a 4runner.

    Yes.

Actually, my Durango drives very nicely, better than the 4Runner and the Highlander. And it has been relatively trouble free, other than this radiator leak. But long term prognosis is not good compared to Toyota products.

Ha! Yeah but I wasn't suggesting @4x4_Angel and @Thegr8punkin move to California, just appreciating that the Live in a Big Hanger with a King bed in one corner dream could come true. These exist. :amen:

I don't know how you Californians afford housing...

I'm in Central NY, no where near NYC. Taxes suck but housing is cheap.

Sunnier - I was thinking of taking the family to San Diego in February this year for winter break instead of Florida. Any suggestions of where to stay and what sights to see? PM me some suggestions.

    Thanks.

I think we don't know any better. Then, if/once we keep a house out of foreclosure for about 10 years, we become rich on paper, so a lot get a new mortgage with cash out for toys... which works fine as long as 1. The bubble doesn't burst while you're fake rich, and 2. we get it paid down before we retire. A plus is, selling here allows us to buy pretty much anywhere else. Caveat: can't afford to come back.

My house is 1035 square feet, built in the 70's, and purchased 2 bubbles ago. So I can pay the mortgage with one paycheck. BUT everyone I know has a bigger, newer, nicer house than we do. But I grew up super poor (that other thread) and am waaaaay debt-averse. So I'd rather be financially comfortable in the one I've got, then stretch too much for something else. I'm pretty sure I'll pull off an early retirement and move somewhere pretty and rural, with water. Anyway, that's the goal.

But I'd still want a big fancy hanger with a residential loft!! (If it is well insulated, with a "root cellar", etc.)

Yeah, I live modestly too. Our house is 1800 sf, built in mid 70's. It will be paid off by the time our oldest goes to college. My wife and I have similar plans. Once the kids are through college, we move to a small house on water somewhere.

Are you kidding me? Real estate is about to explode in Colorado too. You guys are about to go through the exact same shit we went through. But you my young friend is doing it right. You got into your starter home at a really young age. Now in 5 years when your house increases in value over 25%-40%, you'll be able to use the equity to upgrade to the next level. While everyone else who hasn't bought yet will be priced out. Over-population is a bitch.
