So I narrowed it down... i had a no start twice this week. The first time i swapped batteries and i started(I think this was a fluke or just the fact that I disconnected and reconnected the power)

The second time it would not start at all... luckily I had a tester light in my truck, I figured out that I was loosing power somewhere in between the ECU and starter relay. I was on the phone with the mechanic and he suggested disconnecting an reconnecting the neutral safety switch. I was literally parked in a snow bank and my hands were freezing. I couldn't get it unplugged but I gave it a hard wiggle. It fired right up.

Which leads me to believe that the NSS is going bad, but I really want to be sure because I feel like there has been more than one problem working against me. That night i wanted to locate the wire coming out of the ECU to the NSS and the wires that bring power to the starter relay. While I was digging around behind the glove box i discovered a Unichip tuner. Luckily it was a plug and play so i pulled it all out and reconnected all the factory harnesses. I did a bit of googling and it seams like it could be part of my problem. It explains the times it cranks and won't start.... Its been starting great ever since. I'm just going to monitor it for a while before i decide on the the NSS... It looks like certain Unichip maps contain a disabler feature so i'm wondering if it was starting to fail and causing me a world of stress..... fingers crossed

Another case of a rushed starter replacement when it wasn't the issue. I spoke with a lexus/toyota tech with 45 years of on the floor experience. He
has changed 1 starter on a GX460 in all his years
