Just saw your welcome thread. Welcome from the Texas Hill Country.

That's nice old 87 4Runner. The pic caught my eye because I had an 86 that I drove and loved for 30 years.

I bought the truck used (6 months old, 13K miles) from a Ford dealer. It originally was port-converted by Gulf States Toyota to add cloth seat covers, a folding rear seat, and some other interior trim to duck import duties. Importing without the rear seat apparently classified the 4Runner as a truck, but having a rear seat classified it as a passenger vehicle with higher duties. My truck had exactly the same wheels as yours, but it was a Deluxe model. My theory is those wheels were part of that port conversion package by Gulf States Toyota replacing the standard steel wheels.

The wheel design is obviously a knock-off of the old US turbine style aftermarket wheels from the 60s and 70s. But, they are slightly different (different number of spokes) than any made by US aftermarket wheel manufacturers like American Racing, et al. There were no manufacturer markings on the wheels. As the original owner, do you know any history of the wheels?
