Time for a new vehicle (used). The 4Runner is going to the girl and the wife needs new wheels. We have been watching some overlanding and it has sparked her interest. I plan to feed the fire.

    My question:
    Land Cruiser or Tundra?

I currently have the RCSB Tundra, but we need room for everyone (4 of us). The 4Runner feels just a little small when we vacation. We drove a Sequoia, but might as well have been driving my 2008 tundra for 63K. I could get a used LC for less than that. The Land Cruiser is NICE and just a bit bigger than the 4Runner.

The crewmax Tundra has the room and add a topper it has storage. It is a boat, will it really be good for offroading /overloading with that long wheelbase? A used Tundra would be reasonably priced compared to the LC.

    Thoughts?

My wife has a 2017 Sequoia and I have a 2018 Tundra (DC, not a CC). They are excellent for what they are intended. The Sequoia is large enough for hauling people with plenty of room for cargo in the back. My wife has the second seat folded down and we use it for hauling things that need to be kept out of the weather (or thieves) such as bags of animal feed (we have a farm).

The Tundra is the utility vehicle for hauling (or towing) anything. I needed the 6.5' bed so I got the DC. It is just the two of us so it works great.

Land Cruisers are fantastic but seldom show up on the used market. People who buy those tend to keep them forever it seems.

I think there are a few seriously equipped overland capable Tundras on the forum too..definitely quite popular now. It's amazing how small the trails got once I got my Tundra..heh...heh...
