Go look at a 2015 (4.0) and 2016 (3.5) despite being a year older the 2015 has a higher ($100) trade in value when I used as identical specs as possible. Elevator Matt is correct and so is that group mentality

This right here. If you want leather and save money from not buying a higher trim. Add Katzkins that’s better quality than most OEM leather. As for being 14 years old powertrain. The other big three have new models recently that come with 1st & 2nd year issues to work out. Especially the tech stuff.

I still would not expect to save a bunch of in November. My typical experience is that you can save decent money in the first quarter of the year on a leftover. And then you are only able to pick from what they have. Toyota has never given much for rebates on the tundra. 3k is the best I have seen, but that can vary by region. Do whatever strategy you think works best for you. I personally like to say look at what I have, rather than I almost could have had.

Just look at the FJ values over the last 36 months. Proven.

Doesn’t make sense, when you could get it from the factory. Resale, even 10 years down the line is always higher for oem

To me it appears you found the one that you want. Go find a dealer that has one and get it asap. No one knows what the future holds. But you know what you want and it is available.
It is what I did and have the exact truck in an 18, first year for the sport. The cloth is standard and I think they are very durable, you will be fine with this fabric. I suppose you would have to special order leather for a sport.
Tundralaw loves his leather, that is all.
The sport has hd front sway bar and rear sway bar. Navigation, weather, posted speed indicator(important in unknown areas) This all is above the upgraded SR5 trim.
The ride is firmer with the tuned shocks with less body roll in cornering. Limited and OR TRD or softer on sharp bumps but roll more in turns.
the badges can be blacked out with simple covers.
Post pics of the new truck.

Another vote for buying now if you need (or want) the truck now. I bought my truck last November even though I planned to use its capabilities mostly in summer because I found a great deal I couldn't pass up. In hindsight, I'm glad I didn't wait until March or April to buy, though this year was obviously abnormal.

If you compare initial purchase price of a Tundra with fabric seats vs leather, and then the resale on each, and then compare that to the price of aftermarket leather amortized over a 10 year period I would guess you are very much in the "WTF cares" category.

You all have my absolute favorite Armed Services nickname of "Puddle Pirates". I guess it's supposed to be an insult but I always thought it was cool. I'd probably have t-shirts made if I had served in the Coast Guard.

Thank you both for your service.

agreed. To each their own, but have you had an sr5 and a limited? If you get the SR5 Upgrade package, you are paying 500-1k less than a limited, but without a bunch of features (leather steering wheel, leather seats, dual zone climate)-- I don't see the value in getting an sr5 XP.

The bottom four, I wouldn't worry about. You can buy a skid plate, have Line X sprayed on, and order a door edge guard. I'm guessing a black chrome exhaust tip is pretty easy to come by as well.

Even the console vault and power locking tailgate can be added yourself, though not as easily as the others.

It appears the Sport Package is a high priority for the OP. It doesn't appear that you can get this on a Limited, correct?

I get that, but I'm just trying to give OP options here, rather than confirmation. The Sport is nice, but it's just an sr5 with red shocks and color matched bumpers.

My father was in the navy, and has much less flattering nicknames than that. But its all in good fun. He actually says that he wished that he thought of the coast guard when enlisting.
    Thanks

I have friends in the Navy and Marines, when I tell sea stories about the dumb shit I did (SAR in winter storms, chasing drug runners, climbing the side of tanker ships to do a boarding, recovering bodies at sea, etc etc) they're like "NOPE".
I know I'm way cooler than they are, so it's all good. Call me whatever names make you feel better about yourselves.

I was an Army Broadcaster so I was barely in the Army. I helped found an AMVETS group years back and all of the fellow vets would talk about how miserable they were out in the desert and crap like that. All I could come up with is the one time I was doing a Morning Show and my AC went out so I had to crack open the door.
You definitely have me beat.

I didn't state the entire branches, right? I stated my personal friends that are/were in. I hate having to defend myself for being in the CG because people think we putt putt around in a dinghy all day. Although our cutter wasn't far off, piece of crap.

You were in the military, still counts. My stepdad was Army too, combat medic in Desert Storm. He's still 'special' from that experience but we love him anyway. o_O
"AC went out" LOL Everyone is used to their own brand of suck. Did you need counseling after that?

Sorry, didn't mean to offend you. The tone of my question was more to say I was confused at the concept of the Navy and Marines leaving all that type of fun to the CG, not to say that I'm surprised the CG does it

Don't sell yourself short, it takes every member of a team to get a job done. And helping to start an AMVETS group is very commendable.

Nah, I had the job that was meant for me. I had a good time - I was no Robin Williams or Adrian Cronauer but I did the best I could to walk the line - entertain and give out command information. One time a Sgt Major was driving through the area and tuned in. I happened to be making a joke about elephant neuticles and he got pissed. He wrote the Stars and Stripes a letter about me and said I needed to act more like an Army Private. Bunch of listeners wrote letters back to the Stars and Stripes and told the Sgt Major he needed to start bring cassettes to listen to when he was on a road trip.

My Sergeants joked that I was the most controversial military DJ to ever step in Europe. My 5 minutes of fame.

Anyways, back to the thread - OP! Buy the truck you love and can afford. I'm only in this Pro because it fixed everything my wife hated about the 2017 Pro. (The Army Green helped too). You are going to be the one driving it. Get what you want and enjoy the hell out of it.
