New to me 2017 platinum, coming from a bunch of ford trucks with eps. For guys that used to drive f150s, or Had them, does the tundra’s steering feel much lighter/looser? I realize it’s not a sports car but it’s kind of sloppy. Also, in my other trucks when I shut the climate controls to “off” no air came out. On this truck regardless of the mode setting, I get hot air trickling out of the vents even while off, Not a big deal just want to know if it’s normal Thanks

    Welcome from Florida!

I may have gotten used to the sloppy steering on my '16, but i was coming from an '05 with 255/65k. But you might be due for a shock replacement/upgrade.

I upgraded my shocks and sway bar on my '20 @ 600miles. Made a big difference in the steering response compared to oem.

Yes, unfortunately it is normal. It is the only thing I hate about the Tundra. Makes no sense that they choose to design it this way.

The steering feels looser than other vehicles, but I think it’s just the power steering assisting more. I think it’s designed that way to make turning the wheel easier.

Welcome! Coming from a '15 silverado and same thoughts. Steering is looser but it reminded me of my '04 silverado which I loved so I am cool with it. The vent thing is annoying to me as well, but something I will live with.

On the vent deal I try to turn the temp up or down, depending, about 5 degrees before I turn the system off. So if I'm running heat/defrost at 80 and I want to turn it off I'll drop it to 75 and when I feel the change I'll turn the system off.

To stop the air coming through the vents turn the recirculating switch on.

^^ This! I learned this trick years ago on my Xterra which felt like the fan was on low even when it was off.

My current Tundra's steering felt quite a bit 'mushier' when it had the original P rated Michelin tires on it. I swapped out to LT tires and the steering feels much better. Still softer than my 2002 Tundra, but at least it wanders less and tracks better at highway speeds. Before it felt like the tires were marshmallows. My 2002 came with KYB shocks what wallowed a bit like a soccer mom SUV on the high seas and that squishy feeling diminished when I put Bilstein shocks on it. A lot of things can combine here to make or break how the truck feels. Even air pressure in the tires.

Agree w poster who said turn recirculating air on--we have a Lexus and had an Acura--all Japanese vehicles that we have had need this button hit to stop the air coming in

Swapped the P rated for BFG KO2 in 275/70/18. The wheel just feels like shit at higher speeds.

When you Turn your AC to Off make sure you hit then Button with the Picture of the Car with the Circle in the Middle. It Basically Turns off the Air from the Outside. If you don't Hit that Button it will still Bring in hot Air.

Basically hit the Recirculation Button. The same Button you hit in the Summer When it 100 Degrees Outside and your want to keep all of you Cool air in.
