Long time Toyota, first time Tundra owner.

    I've had my fair share of Toyotas over the years. Started with an 85' 22RE Xtracab Pickup back in 2003, to a 93' 22RE 4Runner in 2005, a 98' 5VZ-FE 4Runner in 2006, a 2001 5VZ-FE Tacoma Xtracab TRD Stepside in 2007 and finally a 2016 2GR-FKS Tacoma TRD Offroad.

Just picked up a new hunting rig that I can beat up and hopefully trust up in the hills. Its a 2000 AC SR5 Tundra with the 4.7L 2UZ-FE in it. Its not in the prettiest condition, but the frame appears solid, and its had a LBJs and UBJs done recently, and a transmission service done too. its only got 186k on it and will need a timing belt soon, but other than that it appears solid.

Anyways, thought I would introduce myself, been a member on TW for many years, not super active, but I've been using the search on these forums to help me through tons of things in the past.

Welcome aboard sir! Weak points for these are LBJs, sounds like your covered there, and Timing belts. Don't sleep on that belt swap, git-R-done. During the swap, change out the other potential weak points, the radiator and fan clutch assembly. Radiator also has transmission cooling lines in it. Radiator can leak externally at the plastic tank caps, or it can leak into the transmission fluid and ruin the transmission. Fan clutch can become lazy and not cool the coolant properly. Mine has lasted 270k miles, but others have failed sooner and created overheating episodes under load, such as climbing mountains or towing. The rest is in the mega thread, great reading on these for someone new to the platform.
