Well I tried to install the wheels but the old lug nuts do not fit the new wheels. I ordered up some socket type lug nuts but they won't arrive until Saturday. Will be working on the ac system getting it charged and whatnot until then...

Yes you did. One bad coil drops two cylinders.
Just wild how two coils went out at the same time

Water inside the pack from pressure washing probably. Once they short, they're done for.

I know that the v6s call for plugs like this
    3289.jpg
I'm not sure why or what the difference really is but that is what it calls for.
Glad it's good and running now though. Haven't been super active in your thread but have enjoyed seeing the truck come back around. Good luck going forward.

So I examined the 3 coils. The two on the right were misfiring and the one on the left was working.
The metal ring that bolts the coil to the valve cover is extremely corroded on the right two. I think that is a ground for the coils. I think that the rusty ground and the rusty bolt and the corrosion also on the valve cover could have caused a bad ground for the coils leading to the coils not firing. When I swapped the coils for the junkyard ones, I also grabbed the bolts to go with it. Less rusty bolts and no rust on the coils now everything working. I think the ultimate test would be for me to sand paper the rust off the "bad" coils and retest them to see the result.
    What do you guys think?

I tend to agree with your hot take, and like I said earlier, the symptoms you described harken to bad ground.

However, @assassin10000 is also correct - if moisture gets inside your coil pack while it's firing, they have a penchant for self destruction. I think it would all depend on whether or not that metal part is corroded enough to compromise the seal of the coilpack plastics. When something steel is running thru plastics, and the steel starts to corrode, I usually find it compromises the integrity of the seal of the plastic.

Could be a fun/interesting test, and I don't see a lot of harm, but I'd stick to testing with the far-right coil pack in your picture because the other one is pretty far gone.

Just got back from the yard...
Scored big today. Pulled these gems:
    IMG_20230630_112337.jpg
Muffler, pipe, O2 sensor, and rubber hangars, axle with brakes, lines, bumpstops and leaf springs with no rust!
    IMG_20230630_131654.jpg
    IMG_20230630_112356.jpg

To replace this axle which is completely rusted through and leaking through the rust hole:

Nice! CLEAN! Are your current ass-end parts toast, I don't remember?

Also, do you know what gearing is in that rear end, and if it matches yours? Ratio in front diff needs to match rear, unless you're planning to only swap the housing. You may already know this, not trying to preach to the choir here...

On the plus side, you've got a great new housing. Just might have a little extra work to getting there. The bonus is, you've got all the time in the world to get it prepped and a bike to get you by during downtime :D

How are you going to install that if the gear ratio is different? Or are you just using the new housing?
