forgot to add, tacoma has dedicated driver/pass temp knobs and dedicated volume knobs.

i hate the tundra switch to in/decrease the temps. so dam tedious.

I think Toyota almost nailed the TRD Pro Taco. IMO, it would be perfect with the longer 6' bed.

The Trailhunter comes with the 6ft bed, and arguable better suspension for most off road needs outside of desert dune jumping.

Pro will be short bed only. Trailhunter will have option for both.

The Trailhunter trim is cool too but not to fond of the orange trimmed interior. Hopefully the interior will have options.

No easily accessible front towhooks on the Trailhunter edition:

They're tucked underneath like the aftermarket AFE ones people are putting on the 3rd Gen Tundras.

Dare I say it almost seems more Hilux-inspired (higher payload but lower towing).

Limited trim is interesting. If it gets the higher payload as well, then it seems to me the closest we’ll get to a new 79 series in North America.

Going to have to get used to the longer wheelbase but same overall length. It looks like the rear wheel is too far back, which makes the bed look shorter. Wonder what that has done to the turn radius compared to gen 3.

Overall, it just seems like Toyota cares more about the Tacoma than they do the Tundra.

I like the price tag of the last Tacoma vs the Tundra when I bought mine a month ago, aside from that I'm out. So long as the seats sit so low to the floor and are cut for 160lb man, I'm out. I'm super pleased with my fullsize Tundra and DC 6.5 bed.

I think I saw the new tacoma has 2 more inches of headroom in the cab. Or the cab is 2 inches taller overall. Either way TFL said its ton better and the seating position for the front is a huge improvement.

Raise the cab 2.5 inches, raise the seat 1.2 inches. All trim level have 6way adjustable seat.

Maybe next time! I'll have to check one out, if it's mindblowingly amazing then maybe I won't get crazy on my Tundra and turn it in after 3yr., and switch. If not, nothing lost and buy my current boo more things:muscleflexing:

Historically, yes. But it had that terrible 3.5L that was miserable to tow with. This 2.4L is making 52 ft-lbs more torque at nearly 3000 rpm lower so it wont completely suck to tow with. Would I pull a 6400 lb travel trailer with it? No. But it would pull well and you could easily skip the Tundra if your intention is lighter duty towing.

I pull my 5500 lb travel trailer with my Lexus GX and it does decently enough. Stability has not been an issue despite the 109" wheelbase. Power is where it lacks due to my elevation and the new Tacoma would would be better with the turbo.

The new Ranger and Colorado with the 2.7L engines making 400+ ft-lbs are extremely interesting to me for towing.

How would the 2.4L be better than the 4.6L v8 in the GX? besides smiles per gallon :)

The turbo engine retains its power and torque at elevation. My living room is at 6500' which means my 301hp/328ft-lb GX is actually making 240hp/262 ft-lbs. Pulling my travel trailer in all but the best conditions(IE, no headwind and cooler temperatures) sucks.

Having 317 at 1700 rpm would be noticably stronger.

    the old T4R v8 specs

    Horsepower 235 hp @ 4,800 rpm
    Torque 320 lb-ft @ 3,400 rpm

    and the 2022 gx specs

    Base engine size: 4.6 L
    Horsepower: 301 hp @ 5,500 rpm
    Torque: 329 lb-ft @ 3,500 rpm

if it follows the tundra, it will give the turbo's time to spool up since the battery will do the initial roll up to maybe 20 mph then the engine will take over.

Yeah I should have phrased it better.. I'm not trying to knock the new Tacomas's towing capability, esp the next gen Tacomas which have pretty impressive numbers. It's just funny seeing people moan about the new Tacoma's towing specs and even comparing it to those of the Tundra - it's no surprise that bigger displacement with another turbo will tow smoother.
