Less than a potential $750 repair/tow out of the boondocks. If there is a group buy for these Jomax's I'm most likely in at this point. Want to wait and see install pics and more input from @14burrito and Jomax.

I messed one up. $300 f up. Took only a few minutes for me to install a new one. Quite simple actually.

Most people are able to diagnose and install a new one on their own, which helps save a bit :)

I'll keep you in the loop if I can get a GB buckled down.

Definitely the route I'd go for ABS protection. Looks to be significantly more material, and if I saw correctly, it's a double shear bolt design that's going to be far more robust than current offerings. That makes the price way less shocking. Downright fair, I'd say. I'm definitely in if a GB happens.
Honestly, probably going to get them with or without the GB. This damn forum:mad: always making me :spending:.

Thanks for sharing all this, @14burrito ... Bastard.:fistbump:

    Edit:double bolt, not double shear

I broke one ABS 500 miles from home on a 3 day adventure. Lets just say if you invested in an ABS guard it'll save you a piece of mind. Here's what will happen if you brake an ABS sensor starting with the worst case scenario first:
    1. in 4-lo broken sensor will lock you in and will not disengage from 4-lo therefore your either driving 4-lo all day long or tow your vehicle.
    2. A broken sensor in 4-Hi, its possible that it may disengage and and engage in 4-hi but you will not have any notice unless you are listening to the actuator.
    3. Broken ABS sensor in regular 2WD, Dash light will for ABS comes on, 4HI and 4Lo Flash, no communication to 4-wheel control module, center differential lock code, open circuit code.

Usually, a broken sensor will cause a combination of 1 and 3, and 2 and 3. You may get lucky replacing the ABS without having to reset the codes on your OBII. If you don't have Techstream to diagnosis, a trip to dealership starts at $150 and it goes up from there.

All it takes a small rock to smash the Abs sensor.

That's awesome you have an outline of what happens in what modes when a sensor shits the bed on you, appreciate posting that info up! Thank you

Hella beefy! That price is painful but I can see why they are better than the other options. If I didn’t already have sdhq I may bite.

    Fronts,

If anyone would like, I can DM some coverage pics of my previously installed shields. I'd rather not post those pics here, but I did post one quick overview shot of them side by side.

Very nice. Interested in a GB. I don't do a lot of wheeling, so its hard to justify, but I can absolutely appreciate the craftsmanship.

I think these kinda fall into the skid plate category of "rather have and not need, than need and not have" type of items. A piece of road debris on the highway will smoke sensor just as easily as a rock on a trail.

It is a very thought-out design though. It took the best of the current ABS guard which has a rotation error and made 2 bolt for complete coverage of the ABS sensor and prevent rotation of the guard. Although going this route you are now a niche for Tundra and not for many other vehicle which I don't know if that's Jomax intention. This limit the market capitalization of making one product for a broad spectrum of vehicle.

On my 2010 I was on a trip and pulled over to check something on the trailer. When I pulled out some large gravel had some ice so put it in 4hi and pulled out. Some of the gravel chunks were flying around in the wheel well and I got the "Christmas tree lights" on the dash. I was able to go to 2wd but the lights stayed on until I had to stop for gas and restarted and I was back to normal. I'm not certain of what happened, but suspect one of the sensors was hit and sent the abs system into a state of confusion. After that had no problem.

On my 2020 I installed single bolt guards just to be sure. I don't do any heavy off road wheeling, but the stock ABS Sensors are NOT protected and are vulnerable. My currently installed aftermarket ABS Sensor protectors do have cooling vents and not sure if this is needed, or just keeping them lighter?

The 2 bolt design is really nice and would certainly be more robust for off roading. I might have used those had they been available even for my highway towing and very light off road use. Great protection suggestion that I'd certainly recommend to mitigate damage and costly repair much less being stranded.

I certainly don't need these, but I definitely want these for peace of mind. Beautiful design and by the looks of it, worth the money for the superior design and build quality.

Post 72 has a before and after for rear.

I'll upload front before and after later today.

Being that they are installed, I have no during...but I'm not sure what you are looking for in regards to a during pic?

What's the possibility of not being able to properly torque those hub bolts having aluminum underneath them? Or having them possibly loosen after the aluminum compresses? The mounting location and specific hardware used makes me nervous.

Not sure if this will help, but these are the install instructions. You use loctite, so it should all hold. He even gives the torque specs.

Post 85, Adam beat me to it.

I'll be rechecking my torques after a week or two. I might also have a tow of our 6k trailer on it. I already have some dirt mileage as well which will only rack up as the weeks progress.

Local AZ buddy of mine just got a set installed. Working on a truck is nice when you have such easy access to a lift lol
