    Hello All

I have just completed a purchase of a 2006 Tundra Double Cab SR5. The engine has about 100k miles on it, while the rest of the truck has about 160k on it (engine has been replaced). Vehicle history shows that it was used primarily for highway driving.

This is my first Tundra, so I was hoping to get ideas of what to look for that might need immediate fixing or service, what to look for that could go wrong down the road, and any tips and suggestions to extend the life and performance of the truck.

I live in the South Florida area, so if anyone knows of any Tundra Owners groups, that would be great to leanr about. Thanks in Advance

    Welcome!

Why did they have to replace the engine so soon?

Rear diff fluid (engine oil too, if you purchased from a private party) -- I recommend synthetic (Mobile1) for all
    Spark plugs
I believe you're up for a trans fluid change too
    Air filter

Hope this helps! Post up pix when you can!

Welcome to Tundras.com! I have the same truck, 06 DC Sr5.

My favorite mods have been my new Bilstein coilovers, Airaid intake system and installing an aux cable onto the stock stereo.

    Hi Sean266.

Dealer changed out the engine. During service check prior to selling the truck, they found that the headers were bad. They swapped the engine instead of just replacing the headers. Works out for me because the engine comes with a 6 month warranty. They should have checked all fluids along with trans fluid, but I'll be checking all of that along with plugs and filter.

Chas of MRT- thats for the welcome. Ill look into the coilovers. Previous owner installed a sound system with a touchscreen, aux, usb, and sd card inputs. Its sweet. Will post pixs when I have the chance.
