If I have a Crossover what oil do I use? I don't want people accusing me of wasting gas on my SUV ego trips or having a rough ride of a pickup truck.:rolleyes::anonymous:

Its actually 5k oil changes for the majority of people. Very few people fall into who Toyota says qualify to do 10k oil changes.

This is right from Toyotas website.https://support.toyota.com/s/article/What-are-the-oil-chan-7604?language=en_US.

Pretty sure the majority of Tundras do at least one of those things. Especially if you live anywhere that has winter.

I would never wait 10,000 mi to change my oil. I like clean oil in my truck

Change it every 3k mi, thinking of trying Royal Purple.

Is it still clean once you drive it down the road? Maybe 1k OCI's might make that engine run to 750K miles.

Plus I only drive it on the weekends and barely put 3k a year on it. Also switched to premium 93 octane gasoline since gas prices have gone down.

So an oil change once a year for you. That's not bad.

Your changing at 5K anyway so 20K doesn't matter. Get the cheaper option.

Careful. I got myself a 30 day vacation from tundras.com for something this harmless.

    Why 93? Are you supercharged?

I plan on getting Harrop Supercharged when paid off, already found and install/tune shop. Just happy the gas prices are back down and taking advantage of the extra octane.

There is going to be zero difference between these two oils except the price tag.

I run 5w-30 in mine anyway. If you want something for heavy duty applications a slightly higher viscosity oil is better option IMO

You're not getting an advantage to the extra octane since the engine is tuned for 87 in its stock state.

To the mods credit it's hard to draw the line between harmless jest and political attacks. Especially over text communication.

There’s another forum I follow and it talked about the difference between the Mobil 1 Extended Performance and M1 Truck and SUV is the base oils used.

The Extended performance has better base oils using larger doses of PAO, which is why it’s a 20k mile oil.
The M1 Truck and SUV and Advanced Fuel Economy lines use base oils that have lesser amounts of PAO

Regarding Walmarts pricing. The Extended Performance is currently on rollback and I would expect it to raise prices like most of the other oils. (Don’t quote me on it but They may be getting rid of excess Dexos 1 gen 2 oils in their warehouses since Dexos 1 gen 3 is now the current Dexos standard)

Will the tundras notice a difference? Probably not.

I saw this video comparison and I was sold on it. And I don't care about the price. I don't daily drive my Tundra, barely put 3k a year on it and plan on using it as a coffin.

Yet? It’s been out for quite a long time. Call me a sucker but I buy it just cuz. And I don’t really need any reason why. I know it’s no different and oil is oil. And I use their water version in the highlander hybrid.

4wd does not affect the oil change intervals. I think someone was confusing 4wd and FFV
