Just ordered the black taillights from Hotshot Off-road, -20% + no sales tax and free shipping is absolutely killer.

I went to install the new tail lights this evening and did the driver side first. The resisters were not attached to the back of the new tail, so i didn't attach it. I installed the driver side and worked fine. I then proceeded to the passenger side and it worked with no issues. I tested the brakes and they worked. I went to test the driver turn signal again and hyper flash started after about 30 seconds. I then tested passenger side and hyper flash started.

I tested the emergency lights and no hyper flash. I removed the driver side XB and placed the OEM back on, and the left the XB in the passenger side, tested the driver side and no hyper flash. Tested the passenger side, no hyper flash. Put the XB back in driver side and hyper flash started again after about 30 seconds.

I have the OEM LED headlight upgrade with Ihacker harness and have not had any issues with hyper flash. Does anyone know if the hyper flash will continue if I install the resistor on the back of the XB tails? I don't want to install resistors on my front headlights if I can avoid, just don't want to hassle with it. I spent a hour trying to troubleshoot the issue and called it a night after a long day of work. I put my OEM's back on and reboxed the XB's.

    Any input is appreciated

You HAVE to install the resistors. Trust me, I had the same issue. Problem will be solved. It's more fun when you add the gen 2 morimoto xb headlights. I had to undo the turn signal switch recall which was really easy.

Thanks, I will give it a try tomorrow with attaching the resistors.

I had read in another post (can’t find the post now), about the drive side resistor obstructing the tailgate shock absorber. Did you have an issue with this?

Is this dangling black plug for the resistor

No. I used a zip tie on each side to keep everything together and only behind the tail light.

So I forgot to mention last night that both my XB tail lights have the similar defect that others have mentioned. The defect exist on both lights. Has anyone received a set that didn’t have this defect? Will this allow for condensation issues?

I ordered these tail lights on Black Friday and have the same headlights set up as you. I don’t know anything about installing anything to do with trucks. That being said what is a resistor and is it something I have to purchase from somewhere? They are supposed to arrive in late December.

These are the resistors. They were included with my tail lights.

From what I understand you can attach them to the back of the tail lights with the little screws that come in the box. These prevent hyper flash. Maybe others who have already installed the resistors can advise better as to installation of the resistors.

Indeed. I want to see more pics of the red and black/clear lens. I like the black but the red looks more OEM to me. Also concerned the clear lens on the black may become oxidized much faster than the red lens. Perhaps PPF would delay that ?!

Yes P-N-P. They came set as sequential and I left them as sequential for now. I am thinking of switching to regular since my fronts are regular but I guess it really doesn’t matter since I can see them myself, LOL. I wonder if other members who have regular turn signals up front left the rears as sequential or switched to regular.

Received the taillights yesterday, had ordered them from Hotshot Off-road during their Black Friday sale; put them in this afternoon.

They came set for sequential already, and that's what I left them as since it's what I wanted. Went with the black set to match the Morimoto XB headlights that I've got up front.

They look great, they really do. I did need the resistors. When I hooked up the first light and tested the turn signals, it had the hyper-flash. Put the resistor on and it was resolved. Zip-tied the resistors to one of the holes in the metal of the taillight cavity.

just received my tail lights did you install yours? I’m confused on where to put the resistors. Can find a video of someone using them.

You're supposed to be able to attach them to the back of the housing. You should have received a packet of 4 little screws and then you'll see the little holes on the back where you can attach them. However, I tried this for the driver side and it wouldn't work because when I installed the taillight the tailgate shock absorber would push against the resistor and back of light, pushing it out of the opening. So on the driver side I zip tied the resistor to a section of the bed in the back side of the tail light opening and it worked.

For the passenger side, I attached the resistor to the back of taillight with the little screws and was able to install the light easily as there's nothing to obstruct it on the back side in the opening.

To date, I've had no issues. I did not take photos, sorry. Check this link from The Retrofit Source website, install guide.

So I have issue with xb tail light. Keep in mind I also have xb led headlamps which was on truck first with oem tail lights which was working fine.

So I plugged in passenger side xb tail light and I get hyper flash both in front/rear passenger side but only when lights are in off position in cabin. When lights are on on position hyper flash intermittently goes away but comes back.

I switched both xb from driver side to (problem) passenger side and I get the same hyper flash. So I know the both units are fine. I installed the oem tail lights and both are working fine. I left oem tails on because I didn’t want any shorts happening.

I checked all fuses in cabin by emergency brake, and also fuses in side engine bay. Everything looks good.

Really weird issue. Called and emailed Morimoto but they are slower than molasses getting back to u. Anybody have any remedies ?

    thanks in advance!

    Alot of them
Fuses dont cause hyperflash. Hyperflash is caused by the load change as Leds use
less power. This is fixed with resistors. @memario1214 might be able to assist.

Did you put the resistor on the tails?

I don't see the resistors in the pic, but if you wired them in then I unfortunately am of no help.
