    Hello!
My name's Bill, bought my first Tundra Dec. of 2013. It was an 06 SR5, dbl cab 2wd. I absolutely loved that truck. The day after Christmas we had a near catastrophic end over end at highway speed caused by black ice on an interstate bridge. 2 other vehicles went as well but none of us collided with each other.
We landed upside down in a deep median at 9:20 at night. Amazingly, my wife, son and myself walked away a little stiff and bruised.
This last Tuesday I bought another Tundra, an 07 dbl cab, 4wd TRD, candy apple red (I refuse to call it maroon ;)). It has 85,000 miles on it and is in pristine condition. My wife and I are excited about tricking this new truck out.
I'm not a mechanic but I'm very good with my hands. I'm actually a cabinet/furniture maker. As a day job I'm a Respiratory Therapist working ICU/neonatal ICU.
I look forward to learning from all of you and sharing our truck project with you!

I will post pics of our totaled truck as well as our new 07 Tundra. I will also start a build log for the new truck. Now I'm just waiting, new truck arrives by next Friday :)

    Bill

Welcome. Def glad you and the family were able to walk away. +1 for Toyota safety. Let's see the crash pics. You should also create a build thread for the new truck.

Our son crawled out the back window that broke out and a good Samaritan helped open the door to let us out of the front after we had flipped and landed on the roof. Another thing that we were impressed with, no matter the fact that we were hanging upside down in our seatbelts, we were almost as if we were in a 5 point harness. Our seatbelts were flawless in holding us tight in place as we hung there upside down in the cab and when we unbuckled, it was clean and crisp letting us out so we could evacuate the vehicle.

That's awesome that the cab kept its shape so well with everything around it all crumpled up.

Exactly. We landed hard on the top in a deep median. When we dropped down from our seats we had room to sit on the ceiling and assess our situation.

At the moment I realized I couldn't regain control, I thought I had killed my family. The last thing I said to my wife was, "baby I'm so sorry..". Horrifying is accurate. Thank you for the welcome Rich :)
