    Originally from Va. Just acquired a new to me sr5 2014 DC trd off road thanks to my 2005 Sierra z71 giving up. Been reading the site about a week now and finally joined. Lots of great info here. Active memebership that is super helpful. Looking forward to learning more about my truck and staying out from under the hood like I had to with the GMC.

    So far my only mods to the truck are :
    Deer whistle (absolutely necessary);
    18" magnaflow muffler welded into where the stock used to be;
    Husky weatherbeater floor liners (front and back); tonneau cover.

    Next: love the "model T" emblem,
    Window tint up front to match the back windows, maybe a remote start. Keeping the stock Michelins until they *need* to be replaced. Then will increase to 275/70 r18 (just to fill up the wheel well some).

    But I love the truck. Not ready to change too much about her yet. Hahaha

    Welcome from Virginia Beach!

    Most people go south. Nice fall colors up there! Post some pics.

    Probably could make some side money with a plow and chains. That is two mods I would do if I lived there.

    Nice!! That's my home town.
    I'll see if I can get some fall pics posted. Same with the torrential blizzards we get. Haha.

    The landscapers pretty much have the plow market cornered up here. Plus the truck would no longer fit in the garage and I'd be scraping snow and ice off of it every morning.

    We're about 2 hrs north of WG. We're essentially 25 miles from Canada. WG is a beautiful spot though.

    We just got through several days of torrential rain and am looking forward to a sunny weekend. I'll take the rain over the blizzards. We are originally from upstate NY but closer to Niagra falls. Moved south immediately after college instead of waiting until retirement as so many do.

    It sounds like you are near Messina/ Ogndensburg area.

    As kids and young adults we liked the snow and have great memories.

    Looking forward to the pics...A tundra in autumn or snow! We'll raise a glass to ya! Cheers!

    Awesome. Close, but not as far along 11 as Oburg/Messina. We're in Sackets harbor on the lake (near Watertown / ft drum).
    Having grown up in VB, any snow we get is still fun for us but I can do without the -30s and -40s. They're saying we'll get a doozy this winter. Who knows. Nothing the tundra can't handle I'm thinking!!

    You'll have fun.

    Coffee to drink is king vs Pepsi or coke for drinking and I think it's because of how cold it is for X months out of the year. That and alcohol.

    I've seen community Polar plunges near where I grew up with backhoe's punching through the ice to get to the water for people to jump into.
    Also good freshwater fishing with inexpensive small boats.

    They probably never had grits but have cream of wheat. If you can make good bbq you'll be a hit. Still an oddity coming from the south. They'll love your accent even though you don't think you have one.

    Thanks yeah. Cold nights and warm days and below average rainfall was what we were told.
    Bout to lose the "warm days" part this weekend though I think. Lol.

    We are losing the warm weather this weekend too. But it makes for enjoying hot fires, good spirits at night and in the morning comfort foods like pancakes/ waffles with butter and maple syrup!

    It is a lanolin based lubricant. It's good for a lot of stuff, but it does wonders as a undercarriage and frame protectant. There are a million threads about the stuff, but it really does work great. If I lived in a snowy environment, I would absolutely apply a few cans before snowfall as well as spring to prevent corrosion. Napa, auto zone and Lowes should sell it. If not, there is always Amazon.
