    2014 Tundra Crewmax Limited 4x4
Hey guys and gals, thought I'd introduce myself to the forum along with my recently purchased 2014 Tundra Crewmax 4x4 Limited. Apologize in advance for the long story, but there is an cool twist at the end so bear with me.

I've been in love with Toyota 4x4s since I was a teenager back in the early 80s, and in my first year of college I purchased a brand new gray 1983 Toyota 4x4 pickup from Street Toyota in Amarillo Texas. Did a few mods (3" lift, bigger tires, the requisite cb radio, etc as far as my limited cash supply would allow) and drove the heck out of that Toyota for 27 YEARS. It was my daily driver for many years and got me into and out of many places I try not to remember, but then due to family size increase it was relegated to primarily off road fun, getting me to hunting and fishing spots and teaching my daughters how to drive a 5 speed. During part of this time my wife (and later my daughter) drove a 1995 Toyota 4Runner which was also a great vehicle, but nothing will compare to the "love" I had for that old pickup and how well it was built. In a moment of weakness (facing some spousal pressure to eliminate a vehicle after purchasing a 2006 Ford F150 4x4 Texas Edition) I listed it on Craiglist for a high price just to show her I tried to sell it but couldn't - instead I was inundated with calls and it was gone within an hour. That was a sad day I have regretted since then.

Fast forward to 2014 when my neighbor bought a new Tundra 4x4 Crewmax Limited (his first Toyota pickup), and shortly thereafter I planted the seed in his mind that if he ever decided to sell it, come see me. A few years passed with some reminders along the way, but he somehow decided that he liked it too much to get rid of it - all the while never letting it touch mud or a dirt road, tow a trailer, sleep outside at night and do the fun stuff Toyotas like to do. Well, last week he got the bug and bought a 2017 white 4x4 Tundra, and the Ford was quickly gone to my 15 year old nephew (whose dad had been on me for 2 years to sell it to him) and the 2014 Tundra was in my driveway. I did like the Ford as it was reliable and looked great, but for an old Toyota lover there was just something missing.

Anyway, I love my new used Tundra, appreciate the well thought out features (not overkill) and the solid build, space and well laid out controls. Now the end of the story - I did a Carfax on my truck, and found out it was originally delivered to Street Toyota in Amarillo (the place where I bought my first Toyota 4x4 in 1983), before making it's way to Tulsa (dealer transfer) for my neighbor. It was meant to be!

I've been doing some lurking/searching on the site to learn more about the newer Tundras, possible mods that can be made (already added Husky Xact floor mats, a Tekonsha trailer brake controller and looking at ESP boxes) and thought I'd join the community of fellow Tundra lovers.

    Thanks!

I'm in NE Oklahoma, you are right zcarpenter92 35's are about average around here but not nearly as much offroading/public land as you have in CO. I took my old 83 Toy up to the mountains in CO many times and had lots of fun, not sure how the Tundra would do on some of those tight trails.

Yeah Sterlinglwood, I got lucky on the Ford - it happens every now and then I guess. A lot of my friends have eco-boosts with the aluminum body, they are trading them in as quick as they can.

Nice, isn't that the humid part of the state? I've only been through Cimmaron County on the way to Lubbock to see a buddy of mine. That same buddy is originally from Perryton, right on the Texas side of the Panhandle.

I'm just being a smart ass. We had someone visiting today who's got a really high mileage explorer....... I just gotta figure out how to get the power steering fluid off my driveway now...... Kidding, it might be brake fluid.:rofl::rofl: True story though.
    I had a '69 Ford F150 when I was a teen and I loved it.

Closest thing I owned to a ford was a mercury topaz that my grandma gave me. Drove the shit out of it and sold it 6 months later for a grand. Got me to work so I was happy to have it.

Welcome from CO. You can use the “@“ symbol and then type the username to tag them. The ones with black Tundras are a bit slower to respond; same with MGM. No fault of theirs, just the slower colors.
