Most of the maintenance is pretty intuitive, I will admit, but I would like to have the hard copy, if possible. I have used the Haynes, and I have a few of those, and Benteleys are pretty good also, if they do Tundra, that I don't know.

The Haynes is typically based on a tear down and rebuild, so if you have the model they use, and they provide for the common models, it works out well. Not so good on the '98 2WD Tacoma, as an example, as it has a different steering rack I'm working on. I may end up giving that to charity if I can't sell it cheap. Pretty nice truck, almost new tires, runs well, but body and interior could use TLC. 4 banger, so gets about 23-25 mpg. Can tow 1000 lbs. I put Bilstein shocks on it about a year ago.

The Toyota manual for my '92 Previa was pretty good and gave some of the rebuild procedures. Land Rover is good about that also. That goes for rebuilding the engine also...just that the Tundras don't need that as much as most people don't even reach that type of mileage. That's kind of how I see it. 213,000 is definitely a lot of miles, but the 2013 should have the hard copies for about $500/set, or buy singles. I want to look at it and drive it, see if it has the previous smog, etc...Current owner has only had it for 2 years.

The 2015 sold for $23k, FWIW, and I told the seller I couldn't pay that as it's 4 hours away.

Yeah that makes sense. You know more about what you need specifically. That works better. Lol.

Verbage, I think I want to pay $20k for a truck with 213,000 miles on it...

Don't be afraid to tell me I'm crazy...this is the text for the above pics of the 2013.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Selling my well-cared for and well-maintained 2013 Toyota Tundra Platinum 4x4 CrewMax.

Price is $20,000 FIRM. Please do not make other price offers.

    213,000 mostly highway miles

White exterior on Black leather interior.

    5.7L V8

    4x4

I believe truck has ALL available features and luxury options for 2013, including but not limited to: Automatic Rear Differential, rear DVD system, Back-up Camera, JBL stereo system, heated AND ventilated front seats, rolled-down rear window, etc.

Clean California title in hand and currently registered. I have owned the truck the last 2 years in San Jose. First owner bought and owned the truck in Southern California.

This is a California truck and adult owned.

    NO RUST anywhere.

No leaks of any kind. No oil/coolant lost.

Extremely clean truck inside and out. No odors. NON-smoke owners.

Truck is UNMODIFIED and is 100% STOCK. Headlight bulbs and some interior lights updated to LED.

I didn't tow and very little towing signs with first owner. Just light family-duty use.

EVERY features are of working order to my knowledge. Only thing I know not working is the Front passenger parking sensor (other corners work fine, but system beeps when truck coming to stop, so I turn parking sonar system off with switch on dashboard). Not sure if just need to replace that right front parking sensor will fix.

Truck runs and drive flawlessly without any issues.

Four new Michelin Defender LTX tires.

Within the last two years, these were replaced as preventive (some didn't need, but replaced anyway while was at it ):

    Waterpump (Aisin)
    Drive-belt, tensioner and pulley
    Alternator (Toyota reman OEM)
    Fan Clutch (with OEM)
    Battery
    Bilstein 4610 shocks front/rear,
    Brake pads Front/Rear
Three of the 4 TPMS valves replaced recently
Front/Rear Differentials, Transfercase fluid change 10k ago

Please respond only if you are serious in buying and are financially ready. Please email me with your phone number and I will call back. I will not able to respond to inquiries without a phone number. Thank you.

See my post below. The pics look well cared for, and the 2015 sold for more than I could pay. This has the good Nav, with phone capability, and even a usb aux for music. The Platinum is setup with air that seems better for towing. Also, the Tow/Haul is a button on the dash. This is really nice, with full floor mats, etc...

At this point I'm thinking either the 2007 with marginal nav/audio/phone, but I do have a CarPlay in my Taco, I could steal. LOL The 80k truck is still available.

Have another to look at tomorrow, a 2011 Double Cab Limited, it has about 200,000 miles but is only $16,200. I was thinking that the 2013 is close in mileage, and although the Limited was less, the 2013 is the top of the line vs the high teer of Limited only.

Well, as much as the seller seems sincere, I would ask to see all the paperwork (maintenance records) they have. If there is undocumented periods of time that there are no records, you will never know how well it was taken care of internally. You probably know this.
He says firm BUT if he doesn't have said records, 18K in cash would be a pretty good motivator if you can swing that. At least I think it would be if he is reasonable. That's still a lot of mileage. My 14 had under 100K and had all service records. Still talked them down from 29,500 to 21,500. RC suspension that had no install paperwork.
It's been a GREAT truck and I love it!!

Yeah it's tough when you have choices and aren't desperate!! Lol. But that gives you the advantage. I didn't get to see any pics.

I didn't post any pics of the one with 200k for $16,200, mainly because a friend in WV has convinced me to get a low mileage example, no matter what. There is one a few hours away, it's a 2007 Limited, and has every option, only 47,xxx miles, but the price is $25,500.

My friend said there's no question with a truck like that, he's the original fanatic. He probably kept it in it's own garage, it looks that clean, even has a separate video screen on the rear of the headrests. I have the cash as I just sold my house, and everyone is happy, escrow closes on the 21st. Maybe this is end-of-life crisis...I didn't really have a midlife crisis as I already had a Porsche...LOL I know I can get he manuals for $325 for the set. I will do all the maintenance, whatever it need done. I am going to buy a car lift for my new shop...for once in my life...I don't want to crawl under my truck getting gravel up my crack...I want leather under it if possible...and to tow and haul heavy $#!T when I need it.

What do you think about this one at $25,500 ?

Oh, without a doubt I'd go for it if the owner has maintenance records. They can claim all day that they were meticulous about it's upkeep but unless they have service records proving it, well, then you never really know. But that's also just me, I don't expect you to be the same and whatever you decide,I'm sure you made the best decision for you.
But yeah, +5000 grand for literally a 5th of the mileage? Absolutely!!! It looks great and if everything is on the up and up, I'd go for it. I'd still take it to an independent mechanic and have it checked out though. Yeah, I'm anal when it comes to buying used vehicles. But it's always paid off for me. Always.

I have spoke to the owner in the past, but thought his price was too high. If his truck is as-said and looks, I think I would pay the price as it will be the last truck I buy. There are a few other low miles trucks, this isn't the only one, but my friend did steer me away from any high mileage trucks and I canceled looking at the Platinum Limited 2013 for $20k, and another one with 200k miles on it. May last and be a great truck, but it's more likely that the majority make it to about 300k. My friend made me feel as though I should do it this one time, to make sure I get a truck that will last until I die. I'd like to get at least 200k on top of what I buy, so he says limit to 100k miles, since most make it to 300k.

    Thanks for your comment, Sam!

Back to ground zero. Even though I would pay his price, it didn't want to take a deposit and wait until final payment, even with $5k deposit.

I told him if he still has it on July 21st, we could do a deal, unless I borrow the money.
Bingo! Today he sent me a link to a 2006 GM 2500 which only had RWD for $23k in fair condition.

My new criteria for searching is only up to 110,000 miles, and only 2010 and newer. I am trying not to consider anything else.

This guy provides a lot of good info, he seems honest.

I would like to find one with less than 100,000 miles, but extending my search to 110,000.

Also, the really low, not being driven 2007 and 2008, so the really clean one above in Rocklin, CA may not be worth 25,500 if you get seal/gasket leaks.

Mileage seems to be the biggest driving point on price. The lower the mileage, the more premium the Tundras seem to command.

Miles don’t mean the same thing for Tundras. They are built well and they last. There have been numerous million mile examples of 2 and 2.5 gen tundras.

Agree, just that if you look at prices, the mileage is king, it is what demands higher prices on all 2007–2020 models. It doesn't seem isolated to any Gen.

Given that I typically would go for low cost of entry, this time I have the $$$s to get what I want, even if I need to pay $25k, which I think is completely possible. I was looking at a 2015 with 120k miles that sold for $23,000, and I wouldn't have paid that. I told the seller.

But paying $25k for a truck that sold for $50k-$55k is not unreasonable, and the 2010 and newer seem to go for about that. That's a 15 year old, and I have bought some at 7-8 years with less miles at ~50% of purchase price new. This will be the last truck I buy, IMO, although I have a few others I want to tinker with, and old Chevy, an old Ford...but this will be my daily driver. It seems like a small price to pay to get the best one can, even if a higher mile tundra is less money.
