    Hi all,

So I will start by admitting bluntly I dont know much about Toyota Tundra different models. I played around with different trucks and I think im leaning towards the reliability of a Tundra.

I understand there is many types of Tundra
    Tundra Platinum
    Tundra Limited
    Tundra TRD
    Tundra TRD Pro
    TRD Pro Sport....
    etc etc etc

I have NO IDEA what the different type are!

I want the best comfort, leather seats, a sporty look, and not lacking in terms of options and technology.
I am located in New England, its freezing cold in winter, (heated front and rear seats please) and hot in summer!

I love aftermarket add-ons like LED lights on top and front Bull-Bars with lights etc. Does anyone sell these kinda modded Tundras, like Ford has Shelby and Tuscany.....who is the Toyota equivalent?

    Also.....Diesel or Gas?

How is the platinum cheaper than some other variants?

Is there a comparison to the F150
    ie Ford F150 Raptor = Toyota ....
    Ford F150 Cobra = Toyota...
Im assuming the platinums are the same!

I just dont know what the different things mean

Price wise $50k for a new platinum is cheaper than Ford Platinum! Nice

Welcome. The Tundra is focused more on longevity and reliability than bells and whistles. The Platinum and 1794 offer the most in terms of "creature comforts." I don't know if any of 'em offer rear seat heaters but they could certainly be added.

Toyota doesn't "pipe in" fake exhaust sound through the speakers like Ford.
The TRD PRO is the answer to the Raptor but the Raptor is probably more capable off road, I'm not sure.

Sorry to be so ignorant I’ve just always been reading up on Ford F-150 so this is all helpful

I know two guys with Toyota pick ups and they absolutely swear by ‘only oil changes and tires’

Ps don’t buy an Audi...ever....piece of expensive junk and I had their so called high end sports S4 it was a terrible unreliable piece of shit

for sure 1794 edition or platinum....price doesn’t seem to be a factor correct?
1794 is the western theme aka the king ranch of Ford...so tan leather
    Platinum has black leather

Another vote for the 1794 or Platinum if you like to maximize your options. If you want to do some fairly heavy modding, go with an SR5 and add the items you like to save money.

So i had the same question when my interest for a tundra began. I decided for a basic sr5. You can always upgrade things you want, this site is proof of that. Save money, spend it on mods.

I bought a SR5 and did my own upgrades to get it the way I wanted it, including getting Katzkin and heated seats installed. Negative thing going that route is once you catch the mod bug, when does it end? If my wife only knew how much I really spent on my truck so far... Also, welcome from CO!

If reliability is your primary goal, than a Toyota truck is what you need. Why the Tundra over the Tacoma? For "bells and whistles" I think the Tacoma may have the Tundra beat but I may be wrong. But for towing, the Tundra can pull a lot more then a Taco.

New England? Then 4x4 is mandatory. There's lots of great Youtube videos on the Tundra which are great to watch. (And Tacoma's too)

Let us know what you get!!

Sounds like you want the tundra platinum with a super charger and Pro or aftermarket suspension. Supercharger upgrade is around $7000(+/-). Suspension costs vary but look at King and Icon first. If you add all that you will be in around 60k which is raptor level to compare to a Ford but yours will just last around 300,000 miles longer. (I subtracted a few 100k due to turbo charger and New England).

If that’s too much, then the platinum is the interior you want and then swap out a few parts and make a platinum pro but don’t add supercharger. Pro mods usually include suspension upgrade, duel exhaust, skid plates and some other small additions.

Cost really isn’t a factor thankfully!

I like some aftermarket mods to get it away from the cookie cutter boring look that every other person driving around has, like
    Tinted windows for sure
    Front bull-bars
Some additional front LED spotlights or bar
Any rear bed LEDs? Or rear workman’s light?
What’s the advantage of the suspension? And cost? I don’t off road
I wouldn’t do the turbo charger as I find that just brings in reliability issues and I had a sports car before and I’m all done with thousands of dollars in repairs and reliability issues

    No heated steering wheel?
    No remote start?
No option for rear heated seats...not a breaker
    Traditional key start only??

    That’s just cheap

DON'T buy mods from the dealer. They will stick you. In the backside that is. A lot of dealers do suspensions mods. Have not seen many do lights. Dealers are in to appearance mods that have curb appeal and trust me they will spend as little as possible and mark up the holy shit out of them. They are looking for the bubba with money that just has to have that truck.

How long do you plan on keeping the truck? Tundras have a better resale value and better reliability over the long term.

What "bells and whistles" do you want? The SR5 Tundra is pretty basic compared to a Limited or Platinum...and Ford has more technology "bling" than any Tundra trim level.

Pick one that makes your head AND your heart happy....:burnrubber:

Where do you get your mods from them?
And are they beginner level to install or you have someone fit it?
    Thanks for that info!
