He said it can technically be done in the driveway. I'll take it to my new fav muffler shop though.

Just swapped out my DD TRD replacement system with X pipe, 16” mufflers and resonators with the OEM TRD catback. I think this is the perfect setup for me like I was hoping. It is super deep, while having no drone or low end torque loss. I had definitely lost low end torque running the x pipe system and it got even worse with mid pipes. I was hesitant to mention it before because it was so much louder and I just assumed maybe it just sounded like it was working harder for less feeling of torque. Having driven both systems back to back today it is clear I had lost the torque and now it is back. It pulls much harder at low to mid range.

The x pipe system with the resonators also had a drone from around 1300-1600 RPM. The TRD system does not have any drone anywhere. Basically, my experience is the total opposite of what everyone says as far as drone and torque loss with a true dual system with no resonators vs an X pipe system with resonators. These are just my observations but I make them with total confidence, not just saying things because it suits my sound preferences. Anyway, I’m very happy with it! If anyone has TRD duals and wants to upgrade the sound I’d just spring for the SPD midpipes.

It sounds great! Maybe take some video of the interior noise level during cruising speeds...

Thanks! I will have to. Cruising it seems no different than just the TRD catback by itself as I remember it. I did get this one from outside as well. https://vimeo.com/1030375271

No just stock manifolds. I’m not sure the SC really changed the exhaust sound much at all honestly.

True, you can tell it rips out of there now. Could use the exhaust as a leaf blower in the lawn.

Curious to see what he came up with and how it sounds. After driving around with the tips I made and then driving around without them, the exhaust sounds way different and not nearly as loud as it was. I know it's psychological but still a cool trick I played on myself.

    Intrigued, fer sure.
Is this a pair of SD Hemholtz resonators that are fit for an SPD dumped system? Looks like one for the driver side that hangs flat and the one for the passenger side rolls up and over?

Im really interested to see what this does for you.

Keith made them for the SPD dump. I had a shop install some ARH cats I had laying around and that cut about half of my drone out, but I want even more snuffed out so I called up DD to see what he could do. You're correct in your assessment of how it will look.

I will most likely get it installed next Friday.

Does anybody know what flanges mate to the cat back side of the downpipes? SPD told me to ask somebody else.. My factory exhaust has been modified and won't mate up in the right spot to the downpipes... if I decide to go that route...

sounds like you'd a custom fitting to make it work.. aka buy the catback then have an exhaust shop adjust to fit.

V-bands like @Downytide his exhaust build looks great. When it's time I'll replace the flanges with vbands.

You can see that the passenger side bank still has the existing flange. The driver side, however, was modified two different times. The first modification was done five or six years ago by cutting and extending the tubing just under the driveshaft in order to line up the midpipes with a Delta 50 muffler I had installed at the time. The second modification was last year when I had the exhaust shop stitch in my x pipe, y pipe, and single 3" muffler. Apparently they deleted the second flange and pushed the x pipe forward as possible.

Even though I've crawled under there dozen times since then and I inspected their work before they even dropped it off the lift, I didn't realize they deleted the flange until a short while ago. Which means the SPD downpipes won't bolt directly to my existing setup; which is for why I was looking for those flanges - or at least one flange. Though, looking at it now, I think I would need to change the entire system and at least move the X pipe rearward. I guess we shall see...

Hit up a scrap yard and scavenge what you need then have a shop weld it on.

None available locally. I tried... haha. I'm sure the same part is available on other models, but I'm too lazy to search.

I'm not opposed to having the muffler shop source one and put it on, but they will throw me out as soon as they see the Helmholtz resonator. For some reason, that part triggered the new owner last time and he pulled the truck off the lift, handed me the keys, and asked me to leave. Been going there for 15 years. Gotta find a new shop.

I suppose I can arts and crafts time the flange from an existing flange, but since they welded the driver side on I can’t simply unbolt the mid pipes and slip a piece of cardboard between them. I guess I could do it with a new set of downpipes...

A replacement flange, in mild steel, is Walker 31879 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0015KWFAM/ The hole in the flange accepts 2-1/4 to 2-3/8 pipe. I ordered a couple of these to use with my system but decided to have some milled from stainless steel using my own design. I was gonna say if you want to let me know what diameter of pipe your catback uses, I can adjust my design and you can use it to order a flange... but it looks like your X pipe is too far forward to simply cut the pipe ahead of the X and weld on a flange. Here's the stock crossover on mine for reference, there's about 6-8" of pipe after that last bend to the flange:
