I'm kind of on the fence about it too - the wife thinks it's too loud, but she's 40 going on 70. It is kind of annoying to pass everyone sounding like I'm trying to race them

Do you really think adding a couple cats is gonna tone down the lower RPM sound?

It will absolutely tone it down a bit.

In my experience cats are way better at toning down than resonators. Resonators are more RPM specific where as cats hit everything.

Has anyone gone from a DD 8" to this setup that can compare the two? Trying to decide if it's worth upgrading or not. I don't really have any complaints with my DD setup.

I had the DD with no mufflers then added carven TR mufflers to that. This is night and day in both sound and gains.

Getting ready to order some cats and it looks like the po did something funky on the factory mid pipe. Looks like they moved the driver side cat forward some and just rammed the straight piece to the bend and they also used 2.25” instead of 2.5”. So my mid pipe is a combo of 2.25” and 2.5” meshed together. Gonna order 2.5” cats and let my exhaust guy figure it out.

For the guys that have been running the system for some time now, has there been any change in the sound profile after putting it through various heat cycles?

None at all. Still sounds great. I just finished a 400 mile round trip that I did a month ago. A month ago I got 13.2mpg and this time I got 15.1. Around town mileage hasn’t changed at all and is still 12.5. I’m getting 200 cell high flow cats installed tomorrow to try and tame down some of the below 2000rpm verboseness. I’ve got zero complaints with the system.

Thursday I’m towing the rzr about a 100 miles so it’ll be interesting to see how it runs.

Let us know how that works out. I've got 200 cell cats I'd like to install too.

No one else is complaining about the noise. I use my ears for work and the bass and boom below 2k is loud. I should setup a meter to see if there’s a difference.

Yes my drone was unbearable around 2k. Running a Dirty Deeds exhaust and thought I lost the Helmholtz resonator but luckily found it. Cut my exhaust and clamped it down drone is completely gone now. It was especially brutal towing.

Not exactly able to use that with a true dual 3”. I used to run one on my last system because the drone was ridiculous and it worked nice.

you could have a helmz on each pipe more to come on this when we add it to the old man’s exhaust

For sure you could. Just not the dirtydeeds variety. A j-pipe would probably be better due to space restrictions.

He offers a j style hemholtz that hugs the body of the muffler.
I converted my DD 3 inch true dualike the SPD and added j style hemholtz after I saw @reywcms exhaust.

$139. He quoted me $250-300 but it took him less than a hour so he knocked it down to just 1hr of labor and then tax and what not. Cats were $198.

You gotta good deal. I probably won't be so lucky. The shop will need to cut and splice in my cats.
