I have never ever seen a truck with a snorkel in water past the hubs. Someone pls post a pic or video. And I don’t mean off the internet. Of YOUR truck.

Water fording depth is a secondary reason for a snorkel.
I've had water halfway up the doors on my Tacoma crossing a flash flooded stream in Colorado, was too busy keeping pointed the
right direction to take a pic though.

I've never heard anyone say that for the Tundra snorkel. No known issues with this snorkel.

Taking the advice of @crikeymike, I finally riveted on the upper mounting plate. I ended up using Cherrymax rivets which are solid structural rivets typically used in aviation. The P/N is CR3213-6-3 for anyone wanting to use them instead. They can be pulled with a regular pop rivet gun, are stronger, and have a solid core for less chance of water entry.

If you look in the product description for the link I posted, you will see "For Engines 4.8 to 6.2 Liters" and ours are 5.7.

I purchased mine before they had the separate listings for engine sizes and ended up getting one that was too small for our Tundra engines. They only had them listed according to snorkel tube diameter. It would vibrate pretty badly when accelerating at certain RPM’s. Snorkelupgrade was super easy to work with and sent me the correct one, the one that is now listed on the website. I guess I was the guinea pig lol.

There are cfm calculators available online. I went through Donaldson, they confirmed cfm requirement, and needed a pre-filter with a 5” outlet.
    https://racingcalcs.com/cfm-cubic-feet-per-minute-calculator/

I did the math on VE for the 5.7 and it is 94%, you can use a lower value like 80%, but it’s still 500ish cfm required.

Hey folks, I'm looking at getting one of these. Love the look, price, and functionality with it. For the folks that are running these, do you still like them? Any pros or cons with it? Also, any tool recommendations for installation or general advice? Thank you in advance!

Need some help with those of y'all who have installed one of these. I just finished but need to tweak some things. I can't seem to get the rubber hose to fit all the way to the air intake box. I removed the short portion of the air intake and it seems that a portion of it is too short. I can barely get the hose to sit all of the way, any advice?

Also, I am slightly concerned but will have to test drive it to work tomorrow. When I did an initial start, I lost all power to the truck. I restarted and had the check engine light and traction lights come on and backed up with no issues. I got out and smelt a weird smell. Unsure exactly the smell if it was burning oil or the trd air filter cleaner oil. I turned it off and started it again and couldn't smell it near the engine but kind of smelt it near the exhaust. I did not see anything dripping. Has anyone experienced anything similar? I had to stop the project yesterday because of a thunderstorm but put garbage bags over the air intake so I don't think it had water in it. I saw a couple of drops inside of the snorkel and figured that it would probably be fine. I tried my best to keep everything as clean as possible but I have rocks for a driveway.

Since nobody drives through water very deep, what is this do for you on the dust side of things better than Swapping air filters when dirty? I live in an extremely dusty environment.

I have one on my Tacoma and it makes a hell of difference keeping the air filter clean. I'm in NV and we have a bit of dust.

It definitely reduces the amount of dust that gets into your filter. The aussies have made videos of the difference before of a snorkel I'm general. Just raising the air intake up to roof height beings in cleaner air, as dust sits lower to the road normally.

Looking real hard at these due to the intense desert dust. Does anyone have install pictures from the inside or top down, or without the snorkel on?
