That’s what I ran into. Having not bought a used car in so long, I figured it would be pretty cheap. Started a search at five thousand, nope, ten thousand, not really. It never crossed my mind I’d be looking at new ones for my kid, but it didn’t make sense otherwise.

I’ve heard good things about the Costco program. I’ll likely be trying it when we get my wife something new.

Costco is the best way to go. I had quotes from 2 dealers on the same truck via costco program, one did have the truck I wanted, the other had to order it. The dealer that had to order it gave me a lower quote by $1500 than the other dealer that had the truck in stock, and I used that to negotiate the price for the truck I have now, and got the same deal. Ended up about 6k under sticker on a base SR.

If I faced this situation, I would buy the cleanest old '95 / '96 Camry that I could find.
Built like tanks, safe & reliable.

The 2018 models have lots of safety features standard, that were optional last year; another consideration for family vehicles.

I'd go for a new one if you can afford it, if not go for the 2017 one.
    Good luck.

The guy with the 2015 verified it’s automatic. Website had an error.

The 2015 definitely isn't a manual. I would give the dealer a call to confirm, but looking at the pictures of the instrument cluster and it showing in "P", I never saw a manual with a Park gear.

It's possible they got pictures from a different car mixed up... but...

Paying a couple thousands more for a new car is worth the new car smell alone.

Another vote for the 2015. Better looking, more options, probably slightly cheaper insurance and the extra 15k miles isn't going to matter much.
