How about a pic of the amp under the seat bypassing the stock amp? You don't need to remove the seat to do that. Takes about 15 seconds.

Thanks for posting, Grimm! Now I guess we gotta find someone that knows stereos to explain. 'Cause even it's a big conspiracy, all info (even by the seller) says it won't work:

Here is what I know. I was told they used the cadence amp to bypass the factory amp using a bypass wire the still sends the signal from the factory amp to the new cadence amp. Thats how it was explained to me. I stopped by the shop that installed it. Thats what they said. oh and both ams stay in the truck cadence is under the back seat factory amp is under the front passenger seat

The JBL HU and amp are connected via a CanBus network. This means the signal between them is not audio it is a stream, and you cannot interfere with it. The only audio available is post amp/processor which is the shit of the shit. Poor source unit (HU), and terrible, and randomly changing processing, and a terrible amplifier output. Now you have to De-equalize and un-time align the bullshit with something like a JL fix 86, audio control, Audison Bit, Alpine 800 etc etc etc... to get anything hopeful. If you actually want clean audio... (Audiophiles), You have to replace the king of the shit pile... The HU. With that and it's sidekick shitpump amp gone you are now free to start towards a clean and powerful system without Band-Aids and bullshit.

Thats correct. You can bypass the factory Amp and use a different amp from what I'm being told. That's what was done to mine and to be honest my system is booming

You have to remember it's not a stock replacement part or equivalent so it will state that it won't fit. (Even though it will)

About to board an airplane so I don't have time to look up the 2018 drawings right now. But I'm gonna guess that the installer routed the OEM Amp output channels to the new Amp inputs and then fed the new outputs to the speakers.

If this is so, it's not so much a bypass as an augmentation.

I know the two connectors used in my FRAC harness design on the '18 HU are identical to all other 3rd Gen Head units. I'd be very surprised if the audio connectors were not the same.

I'd be happy to throw money and my truck at this, but never done any stereo work. And I'm nowhere near Tulsa. Also... there's no "under" my back seat as described by the OP. So I'd hafta set up against the back wall of the DC cab or some such.

Edit: also, I have the non-JBL, but reading above, it seems like if it'all work for one, it'll work for either. Mine is anemic.

Sunnier, since you have the non JBL, wouldn't you just go with the Taco Tunes deal? For what you're getting with their package, seems like a good deal to me.

I dunno. Of all the stuff on this forum that makes my head hurt, stereo is top of the list. I'm usually fairly quick to grasp mechanical stuff, but wiring/ electrical isn't my wheel house. I'll look again at Taco Tunes.

The temptation here is that it would be Really Cheap, so I'd do it as a "for now" option. Once I move up to $500, seems better to hold off to save up enough cash and get a great system.
