IMO, a $1500 delta isn't worth screwing around with if it's the truck he wants and he needs it now.

And most of the opinions are from people that don't even own one or wouldn't buy one. Not sure why they care so much about what other people do.

Huh? I don't hang onto a bad trade, investment or vehicle ever. I'm sure many people on the forum can trade in and out of a truck as they please. Maybe, just maybe, they're driving one every day and aren't as worried as those that don't drive one?

10 year warranty. I can’t even imagine what that costs!

Facebook and YouTube content is only legitimate as long as it is discussing how the Gen 3 Tundra is the greatest vehicle ever engineered. Anything negative are all lies or bots.

Trust me when I say I have a lot more in my life that I have to be worried about than IF my truck goes down. It really won’t be the end of the world and I’m not defending my purchase to you or anyone else. The situation is what it is and I’m going to drive my truck the same way today as I will tomorrow regardless of a recall.
I really am not worried about it and I’m letting OP know that as he asked for opinions.
Also, don’t have Facebook so I don’t see any of those post. But I never claimed to say the 2024 was immune to the issue. All I have said is we can live on what ifs all day long. If OP wants to buy the truck and has taken into account all the issues and still wants to go forward it is what it is. The odds are very slim compared to the number of trucks that have been sold.
But I do have a 3rd Gen so I think I would be more qualified to give my opinion to OP than someone that owns a second gen. We get it.. your truck is amazing and you have to feel validation about it by continually posting in the 3rd gen forum.

I'm loving mine so far. Holding my breath on the engine issue.

My 10/100 cost $1545. The hybrid system actually carries a 10/150 by itself which is impressive.

the hybrid 10/150 isn’t bumper to bumper.

Fair enough man. And the concerns are there but for my list of priorities it is low on them. I’m just saying by the statistics I know from this site the odds seem to be low compared to the number of units being sold. Really no one has an answer but we can go off what we know currently and use that as a starting point. Only reason I’m pointing it out to Op is he seems to be pretty set on a tundra. While there is doom and gloom right now, no harm and giving him an honesty answer based off my experiences. Plus given the price of these trucks, the buyer should be in a financial position to figure out a solution if their truck goes down and a loaner is not provided. Not saying that will be the case but we really don’t know what to expect at the moment. I really am happy with my truck and it really has been solid so far and I have no complaints currently. That could change in the future and only time will tell. But one thing I know for sure is Toyota has never left me stranded before and I have no reason to not trust this truck just like my last two Tacomas until it gives me a reason not to.

OP here. Maybe one thing I should have mentioned is that I'm currently driving a 10-year old BMW with 120K miles which is worth about 1/10th of what I originally paid for it. So, I've grown accustomed to driving a car that could implode at any time and depreciates faster than boat with a hole in it. That said, it has been a very fun car to own - and surprisingly reliable aside from a few oil leaks and cooler issue..

Thanks again for all of the help in this forum - both in support of purchasing and warning not to.

Consoling a new owner and trying to be optimistic is one thing. But telling a potential new owner, one who doesn’t need a truck at the moment, to go and buy one now… is completely insane. Before the bearings issue, 100% get it.

Wait it out OP. This can potentially turn really bad really quick.

I agree, not everyone can take the hit financially/logistically for their truck being down for months and being stuck with a random loaner. Sure, one could throw caution to the wind, but why? I'd wait till the scope of this is known and not risk it. Actually that's exactly what I'm doing.

If my family member was headed to buy one I'd warn them and caution to wait and see what shakes out. Not advise them to hope for the best.

Indeed. Ever see the movie Jaws ? .. in an attempt to be safe, the sheriff asks his son to go 'boat' in the pond/bay right off the main ocean where the known attacks happened.

Long story short ... the ones fleeing to GM/Ford/Nissan/RAM were not safe and in the end, not happy.

Thanks. You might see the relation when the bling wears off your anti-plasticky "driving experience" cool story of your own.

Looks like that truck is getting fixed to me ...far from "hell" imo.

None but a coworker bought a used 2020 Nissan Titan and had a new engine replaced within the year. He explained to me that he now feels like he bought the truck brand new since his engine is. It was covered by Nissan, even as a 2nd owner so again ...far from "hell".

Except the hybrid has had the issue. It’s the same exact engine. They went with the majority which is around 100k vehicles.

Didn’t say I was…. But Taco has a different seat panel! No gaps in the weather stripping, and after test driving both, the Taco was quieter, and everything felt tighter, the drivetrain on new Taco mops the floor with the 3rd gen taco, The Tundra roll out has been one of their poorer performances! My money is on the Taco roll out going better? Found a TRD OffRoad with the off road upgrade package which has cloth heated seats and heated steering wheel, Stabilizer Disconnect for $47,271 sticker was 50,425. I just don’t need a 1/2 ton kids flew the coop.
