New 2020 without remote start .. wanting to add it

Just picked up my new 2020, but no remote start. Where should I be looking for one? I don't want to install it ... So who does a good job installing? Any brands better than the others?

I'd prefer paying more for quality products and install than find the best bargain ...

I went to my local stereo / remote start shop and they got me set up with the one where it uses my factory key. Just need to press the lock button 3 times. Also got the smart start feature so I can start / lock / unlock from my phone. I hate having another FOB attached, so I love this set up.

 

It all depends. Some of the industries best product and tech support professionals have come from the Best Buy mobile install bay and sales floor. There's also the 18 year old high school kid that is just beginning their career; although those people are mentored heavily before doing an install on their own. I'm former Circuit City Fire Dog mobile S&I from the time when the competition was SUPER HOT between the 2. We were 3 blocks away from a big blue. We knew the S&I team there well. Even though there was fierce competition between us, there was a great amount of respect and even beers shared between the 2 teams. They were extremely skilled and knowledgeable.

 

Ya I'd just want to be one and done and no issues. I'd be beyond pissed they jack something up on a 2 week old truck (2 weeks about the timing I'm planning on adding it)

 

My opinion/experience may or may not be worth anything to you, but I've found that a lot of aftermarket alarms will ass out on you after a few years. The brain box has issues and it needs to be replaced. I'm having a lot of issues with a 5 year old Prestige 2-way. It needs replacing, but I've got workarounds and I'm good with them for now.

 

Are alarms the same as remote starts? Like longevity wise...

Not sure I need a 3 mile range, but kinda cool I guess to have LCD screen?? Anyone use one and know how long it will last?

Also... The security alarm?? Why would I want that? I just want remote start, do I just live with it?

Avital is a great remote start. Preffered installers are listed on Avital's website.

 

I went with Compustar and drone mobile https://www.dronemobile.com/ , I use there app on my phone and can start or unlock my truck from anywhere. The installer programmed it so if I hit the lock button three times on my truck key it will start also (no remote one less thing on my key ring), and for $75 I added a keyless entry. The lcd remotes are good but can have limitations, my wife’s a nurse and works in a hospital, to much concrete and steel for the remotes to work from inside the building. I’m sure it’ll come up that there is a small monthly fee going this route, but I can get on my app and locate my truck, see if it’s locked, what the temp is, battery voltage and some other options, it may not be for everyone but it works great for me. Not sure how I missed this ... How do you like the LCD screen? Holds up and works well? Useful?

 

Sunlight visibility is a tad less than desired, but overall pretty good. Advertised 3 mile range, I've never had it not start from very long distances. Also paired with the proximity sensor and phone app

You would need to ask James what's needed for the 2020 though since it's push button start

 

He quoted me $399, but I have dealt with him before and my daughter got a 19 pro in june is getting one for christmas now he will install them for $350 each. the distance is very good. From MES Belmont NH

 

the Fortin Evo unit works great and easy DIY install.
