I totally agree with you. The Tundra is nowhere as expensive as the others’ comparable models. I can’t justify buying any pickup truck for $60k or more. All the Big 3 top models are over $60k. That’s crazy.

50 would be my limit and I still think that’s insane.

50k or less has you rolling around in a bad ass looking truck. Your Tundra looks very similar to mine. To be honest, I think the DC looks better than the CM. I just wanted the extra space to gain a bigger buffer from my two girls that fight non stop. Lol.

I think ive finally gotten to the point that i would rather buy a 20k truck with some dents and spend 20k on upgrades rather than watch a 50k new truck drop in value.

Its insane that compact trucks have become as expensive as full size

I'm not sure who in their right mind would say that the Tundras are overpriced!! Oh wait ... top 3 buyers. Go figure. All I have to say to that is gtfo here with that bs. I've had every generation of Tundra so far and you simply can't go wrong with the build quality and bang for your buck compared to any other full size trucks. But of course, that is just my opinion ...

One of the dumbest things Ford did was discontinue the older Ranger. That was an extremely popular truck in the offroad crowd. (See: prerunner) Not to mention a small truck for the high school kid to get. A classic "trick-up-pup" and fleet vehicle as well.

That forced the small truck buyer into the Tacoma, the Nissan Frontier or later the Chevy Colorado (when it was available).

Ford fucked up and realized it. Since Toyota came out with their latest generation truck recently, they wont be making any planned changes soon. This might move up their planning by about a year but I doubt it. Toyota dominates the market on the midsize truck. Toyota isn't one to make changes simply because another manufacturer made something. I mean look at the Tundra. It's been pretty much the same truck mechanically speaking since 2007. They don't do change for the sake of change.

I think 30 is my limit and it was with a certified tundra for 29000. 2012 TRD crew cab with bed cover, steps and towing breaks. Of course it was last year with 54000. I love this truck over the Tacoma I had in the last 10 months I have had it.

The smaller suspension of any non 1/2 s6ck. The regular trd is alot better with the tundra.

I had a 95 Ranger and then an 04 Dakota before I got my Tundra. Like a lot of people, when I saw how expensive small trucks were getting I decided to just start buying half tons because what you give up in a smaller truck is out of proportion to how little of a price break you get for down sizing when you look at apples to apples equipment. The Ranger is going to be a sales flop that requires heavy discounts if they can't put someone in a crew cab with a decent sized engine and moderate equipment for under 35. 40 Max for a loaded to the gills model with every option in the book, which would compare to high 40s and up for a decked out half ton. If they can't get into that range, why would I pick that over a half ton.

The best part is some ceo will tell the shareholders that sales didn’t happen because america only demands full size trucks....

Remember when the ranger was a high schoolers truck? 17k brand new

So you paid more than $20k for a tundra? That’s not so bad. However, I’m still trying to wrap my head around the notion of buying a house for less than a new Tundra. How I wished that I could have paid less than $50k for my current home in today’s world. :)

So true, I bought a new s10 when I was in highschool for $14,650. Man I miss the days when trucks were reasonable.

I would rather buy a Yugo, Gremlin, Pinto, or this thing-a-ma-gig (Corbin Sparrow), for $43k, than buy a Ranger for that price.

I believe Ford was the one that started the overpriced pickup truck trend!! They are always selling cheap ass trucks for unreasonable prices. Do anyone remember the Lincoln Flleetwood? That ugly piece of crap was very overpriced and people were buying it. That’s when the high priced pickup truck thing started. I hope that the Ranger won’t sell for $40k and that they will have to significantly reduce the price for them.

This topic has been beat to death.

Will it compete with the Taco for sales? Sure, but we can use those trucks for profiling purposes now. o_O who the fuck would buy it? Although Grand Tour seemed to like it, they're Brits so their opinions on trucks don't matter much.

The interesting thing is that it's only new to USA. South America had had the Ranger, and it doesn't compete with the Hilux, the ratio must be 20:1. I saw a few in Peru last year and they didn't look new.

Wondering if we'll start seeing these as work trucks. Smaller wheelbase might serve us better on forest roads. Right now we have a fleet of 150/250s.

More than likely we will see them as work trucks. Mostly fleet as with the F150s.
