    Hello all,

Was browsing sites for information about upgrades and this one seems to have all I wanted to know. I have a 2015 Tundra 4x4 crewmax I bought new. The only modifications I have made are a 3.5" leveling kit a grille guard running boards and fender flairs. Looking to do much more. I also don't like chrome so I black plasti dipped everything chrome on my truck.

How's the plastidip holding up on the bumpers? I need the either do that to mine or just replace them...haven't decided yet. The chrome is killing me...

Holding up very well. Put 3 coats on. Took a road trip to Denver last week and not even a blemish on the fron bumper. Lots of bug guts but not even a scratch on the plasti dip.

One way to keep the bug guts off and to retain the durability is to put a clear coat over the plasti dip

Sorry guys. I lied..... Today was bath day for my beauty and as I was washing the front bumper I noticed that there was some peeling of the plasti dip from the trip to Denver. Nothing a quick additional coat didn't fix though :)

Welcome bud. You need atleast 6 or 7 coats for it to last.

I believe in the videos the plasti dip folks recommend about 6-7 layers to help avoid that peeling. I've done the 7 on my truck and so far almost a year in, no noticeable peels. We travel quite a bit to camp sites with the truck, so she's seen her share of bug guts all over it.

Nice lookin' rig you have btw and welcome!
