Yup, but he is tiny compared to the pythons that we are finding around here. It’s the hotter than normal temperatures here that’s bringing them out in full force.

:). This is Florida. You see everything and anything here in Florida. The kid up the road ran over one just as big on Monday. My mastiff picked up a pigmy rattlesnake with her mouth two weeks ago. Fortunately, my wife was within feet of her and she was able to use her slippers to slap it out of her mouth. She said the snake was just as surprised that the dog picked it up, so it forgot to bite the dog. She killed the same with a stick close by.

I was shocked to find out that the dog picked it up. But, even more astonished at my wife doing all that she did. She is usually a runner. But, her motherly instinct kicked in.:muscleflexing::quickdraw:

In situations like this, it’s much safer to kill the snake if you can. We all have kids and animals in the community. If you turn away for a second or two, the snake would have gotten away. Plus, a snake that big did get to be that size for being slow and stupid. Besides, our animal control and wildlife service are currently overwhelmed by the high number of calls for snake and other pests.

Yup, he grabbed the closest thing that he could find at the moment. It almost got one of his dogs. The snake was halfway on his back porch.

It’s not as easy as it sounds to relocate all these snakes all the time. Florida, especially South Florida is being overrun by pythons and other none native species right now. Calling for help would normally take 15-30 minutes for help to arrive. It’s more a matter of survival of the fittest, as well as, balancing the ecosystem. Killing one or two deadly snakes won’t harm anything. The government actually pay anyone to kill pythons here in Florida.

Florida is a nice place to live, but it also comes at a price. If you’re afraid of snakes, gators, sharks, bobcats, panthers, etc, etc, etc, then, you don’t want to live here. Just visit Disney and other theme parks for a few days every now and then.

Well, I was born and raised in Louisiana and my wife is from south Florida...doesn’t make me any less scared of snakes. I’ve even gator hunted with some of the guys from the TV show swamp people (Troy Landry’s brother, Guy, worked for my dad)

I’m sure that there are money to be made from rattlesnakes. There are lots of people around here in the wildlife business. I, of course, isn’t one of them. :).

Invasive species, 100% behind killing that.

Would make for some tasty BBQ and maybe a nice leather belt!

Yup, I learnt something new myself. However, there is no way that they would ban killing snakes here in Florida. The state would become uninhabitable! It’s not that everyone wants to kill snakes here in Florida. But, many of them are not indigenous to the state, or the United States, as a matter of fact. Crazy people bring them here and then let them go for some unforeseen reason or the snakes get away. There are many people living in the state, as well as, visitors to the state. If there aren’t purging of these invasive species, it will significantly disrupt our ecosystem.

We have a similar with the lion fish (picture below). It’s killing off all our marine life. Plus, it’s extremely poisonous to humans too. The state and Feds are paying people to hunt and kill as many as possible. Tennessee doesn’t have a snake or none indigenous wildlife problem. So, they can ban killing them. It’s funny how Tennessee banned rattlesnake killings, but they allow people to hunt and kill deers! Poor Bambi

This little bastard tagged me in the pant leg when I went to take a leak around a shed at work. Luckily, I wear Ariat style cowboy boots. He whacked my leg and then started after me. He retreated under the building and he’s lucky because I would have beat the living shit out of him. I run across rattlers and they die. Simple as that. I leave the bull snakes alone.

You are lucky it didn’t penetrate your boots/skin. It’s very hot around the world I heard. Just yesterday, it was 110 degrees in France. Can you imagine that? All the critters are coming out of the woodwork now.

If that was in my yard I would have killed it too...

I'm not afraid of them, but I have kids and 2 dogs.... My boyfriend calls all snakes 'danger noodles' so if a smaller shows up in the backyard he ain't going near it not will he go in the backyard ever again and he may try to set my house on fire.

:) that sounds like my other neighbor’s wife. She saw a small black racer snake at the front door and she did go out for almost a week. He had to get ride of all the plants and vegetation in front of his door.

Well I realized how 2 weeks of neglecting my yard really looks....I need to more my grass and pull weeds bad. And I'm backed up to a field so I get snakes and crap in my yard. No reason to give them more of a reason to come in the yard
