Dealers in the South Fla area don't have a lot of 2019 TRD Pro inventory and I haven't seen many on the road. Not sure if thats because they aren't yet in big production, or maybe will never be, but it has me wondering if dealers are willing to negotiate the purchase price. Anyone buy a 2019 TRD Pro? What's your dealer experience? Thanks!

    I bought one in March

    Sticker was 51,000
    I paid 49,000

Also got different tires, cover and side steps.
Gave me 2000 more on my trade in then they org offered too.

Dont let them bullshit you that they are hard to come by and dont be afraid to stand up and walk out.
I had to do it twice till the manager came over and asked me what they have to do to sell me the truck.

They went through the "We only get one every six months"
I said I dont care, I can go on line and have 6 delivered to my house if I were Bill gates.

"This truck wont last long here"
"I can stand up right now and have the next guy in line buy it, Oh, wait, I am it today"

ME: I can go down the street and look at another one

Dealer: Yes, but they want 54,000

me: I can tell that that your is 49,000

Dont let them bullshit you. They have something you want but so do other places.
Nickel dime them on accessories too

Ok so not much different than any other dealer experience. Guess that's a good thing, a little room to deal.

You can get a couple grand in toys if you squeeze them at their cost of course.
The cover I got was 1000 retail and I know the installers that did it the the price wasnt bullshit
Tires were 1000.00 and I got to keep the old ones which I sold and bought a power washer
Side steps were 600 I think or something like that so another 3000 in extras.

Just beat them up and dont be afraid to stand up. My dealer let me stand up about half way.
Pic because I love showing it off and filter because I cant take a pic to save my ass

this is a very regional answer. In California (especially so cali), if you find a dealership that has a pro or two in stock(and every one does) and ask them to even take off the 10K markup they have added, they will laugh you out of the dealership because they know that there will be 10 more people behind you ready to pay it. Maybe in other parts of the country where the economy doesn't support such prices, you can get a better price, but as with everything, location is what matters.

I bought my Audi R8 in Florida and it was the only black one in the state.
They let me know that too.
I said I can get one delivered from another state and walked away.
Before I got to the second chair they stopped me and said lets sit down and have a coffee and discuss you driving this machine.

If you let them think local is the only way to go then they got you.
If you let them know you can go some place else then you got them.

The most dangerous buyer is one that can buy it and will search for it.

I told them I could drive around for a day and save 2000. Then I asked them if they would drive around looking for a truck for 2000? They said yes. I said well, off I go.

For 10k, I would fly somewhere else and drive it home. That's ridiculous to pay over MSRP.

People don't think like that and let dealers play all the cards.
    Fuck that.

Dont care what state you are in or how many are in the area.
You test drove the truck so you know you want it.
The same one can be delivered from another state a lot cheaper.

Southern California does not have a wall around it

You may have more luck at the end of the month. Dealerships like to get their sales numbers up on the monthly figures.

No wall, but doesn't SoCal require a unique emissions package?

Bought mine in NY and it has the California sticker on it
So if they want to charge you 10,000 abover sticker then call dealers and ask.

I would work a couple days to save 10,000 on a truck

an out of state car has to meet CA emissions standards and be smogged upon registering in the state. Most new cars are made to made to CA emissions standards because its cheaper to have one standard, then multiple, but the risk is that if you happen to have a car that for some reason fails smog, well your SoL, and repairs are on you.

most people don't have the time or willingness to fly to another state, buy a car and drive it home, I would guess 99.9% of people wouldn't do that, so the one in a million who do, won't affect whether a dealership adds a markup.

one dealership here has 11 Pros IN STOCK, EVERY ONE has at least a 5K markup, and they will sell every one in the next few months, so if you walk, ok fine.

correct, maybe, I dont think its been tested since emissions warrantees are also state by state, and out of state may not apply. My warranty book says "Ca emissions warranty" I bet your doesnt, but its a hassle that many people won't want to go through and a fight with a dealership who will fight you on bringing them a car from out of state, meanwhile you are now paying for a car that you can't drive.

nope, not a dealer, did sell cars in my younger years, but neither here nor there, and it has nothing to do with "dealers loving me". Your assumption is that because you and maybe 100 other people decided to fly out of state to buy a car and go through the hassle of bringing it back in, doesn't mean most people will, they simply won't. This is why dealerships can get away with markups on hot cars. If you have a hot car on a lot (which the Pro is) and know that you will sell it for the price you want, having that one person come in going "ill just go to Nevada and buy it" won't get a dealer to go "ok ok, ill do whatever you want" they will say "ok bye", and the next person in line (whose not on the forum, who won't go out of state, who maybe is buying it on the spur of a moment) will. Just because the cheapest way to buy a car is going out of state, doesnt mean most people will.

I also know this because before I bought my used one, I talked to every dealership within 200 miles for months on a new 2019, and they wouldn't budge on price. going out of state was not worth the time and hassle for me, and I found a great deal on an extremely low mileage used one, which ended up being a better option for me.

Don’t ever go to Crown Toyota. They are the worst. I’ve had nothing but bad experiences with them in both sales and service. I bought my PRO (granted it’s 2016) at Longo and they have always done me right. Mine was not marked up, but I did order it back in 2016.

    Well,
If you ever want to save 10,000 on a truck and it is worth the hassle then shop in another state.

Just look for the sticker which is on most Tundras.

I’ve never been there for any reason, but in order to be allocated 11 pros they have to be moving a lot of cars!

To the point of who warned against them, they may very well not have 11 Pros. I've experienced dealers who lie about stock just to get you on the lot, on their turf.

check their online inventory. Chances are if it is a stock photo then they do not have the truck. I would want to see a photo with their showroom in the background.

yes except in this case every one has a different stock number, and the dealership faces the freeway and believe me they have those things lined up out front for the world to see.

Best place for a pro is in Reno. Go to Dolan Toyota. They get pro's in weekly. Northern Nevada is a Tundra community, and they don't up charge a pro 1 dollar.

I'd bet a lot of money against your 99.9% assumption. We have people DAILY cross state lines to buy vehicles. Noone says you have to fly to get to another dealer. Southern California could be different but people in the Midwest and southeast do it regularly. If I look at Warren county license plates the majority of vehicles were bought in Nashville Tennessee.

I'll take that bet :) there are two levels of "emissions standards" in this country. "Federal" and "California" with CA being stricter. If you live in Georgia, you can buy a car in Arizona and register it there with no issue. CA being stricter means the car bought out of state must meet the stricter CARB standards. Even though most (all?) cars meet the stricter CA restrictions so manufacturers don't have to have 2 versions of cars (see someones posted sticker up a little higher). The issue, is that in order to register the car in CA bought out of state, it has to be inspected and smogged, and if for some off the wall odd reason it fails, you will have a brand new car you're paying for you can't drive, till its fixed, which is major hassle. This is why I have never known a single person to ever go out of state to buy a car. Not saying it can't be done, its just not that common here.

If you moved just outside of where the fruits and nuts hang out and open a dealer there to undercut the rest you would make a killing.
Living in California is the problem though.
NY is bad enough and in the next couple years my company is opening a new place in Arizona where you can live with human rights etc..

I was picked to run it so I can't wait to get out of here.

I drove 6 hours from KY to GA to purchase my truck. Since I knew exactly what I wanted, white, 1794, certain years and mileage, I had to either buy new or be willing to travel for the right price. Negotiated with the dealer over the phone, agreed on a price, and said see you tomorrow.

Loved every minute of the ride home.
