Need some input on price for a new Tundra

I am looking at a new Tundra at a local dealership. It has the gunner package that I really don't care for and some other crap they added. It is a limited 4x4 crewmax. The sticker is like 57,000 but they will let it go for 49,900. I have only corresponded through email and text and they said they won't take any lower... anyone have any tips on negotiating or how realistic I can be about what I should offer. I am in no hurry.... I have a Tacoma and an old Tundra already. If this one doesn't work I will prob just order a 2020.

 

That seems a little high. I have never heard of the gunner package. That sounds like something the dealer made up to uncharge some aftermarket extras. Get a couple quotes from other dealers in your area to see what the market is like. I know in my area a limited can be had around $42k-$46k

 

It's on toyota.com. maybe it's a southeast Toyota type thing as I live in Ga. Yeah I emailed another dealer and they were around 45000. I would rather put my own wheels and such on it down the road

 

No. Never buy the dealer add-on anything...unless you want to pay 3-5x more for whatever it is that makes it a “gunner” package. Sounds gimmicky.

I’d sit tight and see what Toyota does with the Tundra.

 

+1, that is probably a $6k upcharge for what? You can pick up a Pro for that price.

 

Gunner package is probably just 20" black wheels, running boards, chrome exhuast tip, XP badges, and bed spray liner. It's a Toyota Southeast thing. That's what package my truck came with.

 

For the price youre better doing the bed liner yourself, aftermarket wheels and sliders.

What are you wanting at the limited trim level?

You can get an upgraded SR5 that’ll squeak in just below $40k. Then doll it up with the mods you want.

 

Leather sunroof heated seats for the wife....I know.....crazy.

The sunroof might be the deal breaker. I had one on the previous vehicle I traded in and it just didn’t make MY list of must-haves.

I just added Katzkin leather and heat to mine (I work cheap for myself!) for about $700 including shipping and hardware. Not an easy or terrible job, but it saved me 2-5 thousand in the end to do it myself.

The leather makes a big difference in appearance and cleanability.

 

Yeah well they are at 44700 like i said with msrp....51000... not like that means anything. I just never negotiated really with a dealer. I don't get the vibe that they care if I buy it or not.

 

That's 88% of sticker which I thought is pretty good but only if it has what you want and not other crap.

 

Alright I'll see if they will throw in a spray in bedliner or something. And go from there

 

I thought truecar had average price being around mid 90s % of sticker. So you may be getting the 88% being they're clearing for 2020. Check truecar but that's what I recall.

 

Yeah, but the extras have a 3X markup. I figure they are worth maybe $2k

 

It doesn't have anything extra but the sunroof and I guess the package with blindside crap and whatever comes limited. Don't guess I have a choice on the Toyota guard crap. I won't let them change my oil either. Last time they left the drain plug gasket off.

I got our Tundra limited for 42k in April. Options were tow package, TRD Offroad pkg, Linex in bed, Bed rail system, and Predator tube steps.

 

42000 including taxes and fees?

 

No. That was the negotiated price before all that. Can't get around taxes titles and fees.
