Mine are pretty worn, is there any specific way you revived the finish? Did u just sand and paint? My plan of attack rn is repainting, applying decals, and then clear coats over the decals and paint.

 

Ah I see.. Mine have never been touched,the red just completely faded.So I went with the decals. Only one of mine has a few minor dings in it. Post what you end up doing,I’m curious to see how it turns out. People want insane money for a set.

 

I’ve been struggling to find replacement center caps as well so I’m trying to 3D print some and will be ordering some decals. This is the first test piece, will be test fitting within the next few days.

 

Oh wow, that looks like a fun project. Cant wait to see the final results! How do the clips work with ur 3d printing. Are they oem like clips or is it something else u came up with. Very curious to see how it works.

 

Im curious as well. It will prolly take a few adjustments to get the fit perfect, but I’m printing with PLA right now so the clips aren’t super rigid and I believe this design will work.

 

First test piece was a hair on the loose side. Will adjust, print a new piece and try again.

 

After you adjust things, are you going to try making them silver or would u just paint it afterwards? What do u think of printing it with TRD embossed. That would be a great next iteration!

 

I’ll be able to print them in whatever colors, just need to get the filament.
Trying a different type of filament for a bit more flexibility since these are PLA and are a bit too brittle and I broke a couple clips installing them.
Not sure about embossing the logo yet, I have some vinyl TRD logos being made for whatever my final product is. Just trying to fine tune everything before I offer them up for anybody else needing them

 

I picked up a set of RWs with tires to freshen up. I made my own stickers for the center caps but it was a pain in the butt the way I did it. I used my wife’s cricut. I did two vinyl circles. I did the base layer in red, and then the top layer I used black and cut the TRD out of the center and weeded it so the red would shine through. Not flawless by any means but pretty good. I’m probably going to end up selling these to use the $ for some other mods if anyone near PA is looking for some RWs.

 

I ordered a center cap sticker, the base is thin aluminum and it has the adhesive side with a decal of TRD covered on top by laminate (dome). It is an 85mm diameter and fits the surface of the TRD center cap perfectly.

 

I found a solution for the NLA Rock Warrior center caps and it's a KMC wheel center cap T174K85-S2, I need to order some larger stickers but these worked to cover the KMC logo.

Also gonna order the KMC center cap, looking at one for 17 bucks on ebay. In the first pics u cud see that my front driver side cap is bent pretty bad, no idea how the previous owner did that or what he was doing smh.

Hoping to replace that one with a KMC and putting the TRD sticker on it and the rest ultraman29 recommended. I ordered OEM center caps from the dealer, 16 bucks a pop, but God knows when they will come in. Making some temporary fixes.

 

You ordered OEM rock warrior center caps from the dealer for $16? I thought they stopped producing them and they’re near impossible to find other than someone selling old stock for a small fortune.

 

I ordered PTR18-34071, the alternative to the PTR45-34071.

Yeah they said they were on backorder, idk when they will come, they didnt charge me, they just ordered for me. they will call when they arrive or not lol. hoping to get them soon tho. You can see there are some ppl who think its nice to sell one center cap for 300 bucks.

 

What is the difference between the part numbers? Id be surprised as heck if you actually get them, but I hope you do! You should change your order to 20 of them as an investment strategy

You can remove the aluminum cap of the old rock warrior center cap and straighten up by pounding on it and install it back once flat. Order KMC but they still have not ship it.

 

Looks like they’re sold out of 85mm stickers, I’ve been looking at these but have been a little hesitant to order.

what do you think of just taking off the aluminum cover and putting the decal directly on, it will be a couple mm deeper than the other ones, but doubt it would be noticeable.

 

the ptr45 is an older model the ptr18 should last longer.

 

It can work, just don't want to remove the aluminum cap cause I might ruin it more.

 

they are actually the same appearance, the difference is the other decal is laminated on a thin aluminum base while the other one is just paper.

 

I looked at the beat center cap yesterday, and there is a plastic backing under the aluminum cover, im thinking of applying epoxy super glue or something to add a small layer/buffer so the stickers are not sunken in. Im thinking of applying a lil heat maybe from a blow dryer to make it a lil more pliable and for the adhesive to soften a lil. Im going to order the stickers rn. Waiting for a warm day to work outside.

Also has anyone put the ebay ones on a center cap, bc it says its 83 mm, im hesitant to buy now bc idk how it fits.
