A8299AC6-EFD7-4CD3-8C5F-6888EBE99E0F.jpg these are on the truck now and while I was changing out the tires today the mechanic noticed one of them is leaking. Looks like it’s t8me for a replacement. Any suggestions?

I did this same setup a couple weeks ago with SPC adjustable UCA's and the ride is outstanding. Don't even slow down for most speed bumps now.

I imagine their 8 years old. The truck is lifted not stock. It’s time for some new ones. So what’s the consensus to put on? And ICON rebuilds? Is that even worth it?

Typical life on aftermarket shocks is 4-5 years. You can rebuild, but you’ll need replacements during the downtime. Or, just get new ones and be done with it.

So I know the truck has been lifted and of course the previous owner doesnt have nay paperwork on it. How do I measure or figure out how much this truck has been lifted? Also Isn't that important when ordering new shocks?

New seals and a little cosmetic elbow grease and they will be like new. If you don't have an off-road shop that can rebuild shocks, ask a motorcycle shop. Otherwise send them to me when you take them off and i can use them on a buddies truck. Nothing wrong with those bad boys other than $25 seals and a little oil.

That’s the beauty of those is you can rebuild them and save money, it’s cheaper than buying brand new. same reason I kept my stock suspension for when my kings need to be rebuilt. Rebuild them and do a different valve/tune see if you like the ride after that.

He doesn't know what lift but from the pic it looks like a couple extra leafs in that pack so I assume its an add a leaf and the rear is probably just and inch or so. Standard OEM replacement shocks will work.

If buying a custom built shock like Icon, lift is not important. Need to take measurements of eye to eye when the truck is sitting, fully extended and fully compressed. Call a shop that sells the brand you want or the actual company and give them your info.

Those 2.5” Icons are nice shocks! Much better than Bilstein 5100’s and you can rebuild them like new for less than the price of 5100’s.

Rebuild them. Seals get old and shrink and sometimes can get cut if there is a chip in the chrome on the shaft. If you have a second vehicle to drive that would be great while these shocks are getting rebuilt. And you may as well get them all rebuilt at the same time. They're the same age with the same mileage so you may as well have all new seals and oil put in. Get ahold of Icon and see if they have the seals. If they don't, these guys will: http://shockseals.com/

I had the 5100's when I installed my lift, they'd get heat soaked after a few minutes of off roading and rode like absolute trash after 20k miles, i didn't even consider giving the shocks away, I just put them in the dumpster. I should've put that Bilstein money towards a top brand shock.

This could be a stupid question but why not, do you have to buy the icon shock oil for the shock rebuild or are there any alternatives.
