Stupid question but is this Dynamat just for upgraded stereo system to keep the sounds inside or can it be used to keep outdoor noise out?

    Not a dumb question!

The Dynamat will dampen any resonation in the metal panel. So, it will act to hush the interior from all potential noise.

I did install it when I added a sub, amp, and upgraded speakers. It makes a real difference.

I am amazed I didn’t do sound first... there would be no going back. Are you changing head unit?

That’s my next buy. I just have to decide on one and then commit. I think it’s going to be between Pioneer, Kenwood, and possibly Alpine.

Just to let it be known. 5w-30 is what the 5.7 was originally spec with. Nothing changed inside the motor since 07. So once your out of warranty, it won’t destroy anything in the motor.

That being said, don’t run it under warranty because if a dealer found out they’ll just dey warranty repairs most likely.

the 0w-20 switch happened when the 3.5 went to it too in the cars. They just did it for EPA gas mileage reasons... even if it’s not noticable.

To the OP. Interior mods are the best to start with. Road trips are way better with a deadener truck that has a nice sound system or better seats ETC.

    EDIT:
my bad. Ignore that... I was thinking 4.7 because late night reading.

will 5w-30 hurt anything on the 5.7? No. But yea, It’s a 5w-20 Or 0w-20 engine by design.

Wallygator... “Works” is one thing. Yes, the stereo as installed at the factory powers up and plays music, adjusts to input from the user, and displays data. The same could be said for the black and white TV my parents had in our kitchen up until about 1988.
However, the output quality is so bad that a tamely worded review, devoid of curse words, can’t accurately describe how bad the system actually is.

Users on this site have described the performance of both the standard and upgraded sound systems as “shit”, “cursed”, “joke”, and “afterthought”. These are mild descriptions.

The stereos in our trucks work, yes. But they are the car audio equivalent of a cold shower with no towels.
