Necessary to change gears with a 3" lift and 295/70-18 tires ?

    With a 3" lift and 295 70 18 tires on a '15 sr5 with the trd package is it necessary to change your gears? Pro...Cons... if it is necessary what's a good brand

    Tundras have PLENTY of power and torque. There's no need for regearing with 34". Not even close

    There are those who will swear tires of that size will turn your truck into a dog. Others say they can't tell the difference. Neither camp tends to show the difference on paper. I fall in the later camp. I put 285/65/R20's on (just slightly taller than yours), and I could not tell the difference. I guess it depends on how sensitively calibrated your butt dyno is. My advice would be to do your lift/upsize, followed by adding a speedo calibrator, followed by ZPC. Only then will you be in a position to determine if you really need a gear change.
