IMG_1110.jpg So these showed up today... when my wife found out how much they cost she only yelled at me a little bit for getting them without consulting her .

Now just need to get them on. If anyone in the Orange County or Long Beach area likes installs and helping guys who want to learn correctly let me know. Always willing to throw in some cash or beers or whatever. I know I can just take the truck somewhere but really want to start learning how to do this stuff myself.

Edit: I guess the iPhone cash and beer symbols don't show up in posts... had to type them in

    Nice!!

It's really not hard at all. First time I did it I just looked at YouTube and learned from that. Readylift spacer lift gave me the torque specs that lined up with what I found on other sites. It takes a while though so be prepared to pony up for a sixer and two lunches! Still cheaper than paying a shop!
Once you take off the LCA bolts, the "might as well finish this shit" attitude kicks in LOL
Do one side at a time if you don't have a heavy duty lift and don't forget to chock the wheels!
Stock jack comes in handy when you need to compress the LCA back up to line up the bolt holes.

Not completely a two man job, but it definitely helps.

Sometimes with wives it's easier to ask forgiveness than permission. lol. I try to do the permission thing as much as possible but telling her I need several thousand for suspension for a new truck would/did fall into the forgiveness category. Might be time to send a little appreciation her way? I think it's great that you wanna install yourself! I did and it was completely worth it. Afterall, you're just turning a few nuts and bolts. Just a "Heads up," The bolt on the LCA MUST be loosened from the rear. Best of luck!

Yea I've scrolled a few threads and watched a couple youtube vids. It's definitely not rocket science but it's still a little daunting to try and tackle it when I've never done it before. That and I live at the beach and only have covered parking... no garage and no driveway (can't afford those "luxuries" here) Be nice to have something other than the stock jack and maybe some jack stands but no garage means no where to put them.

Brave man you are! My wife would have done the same thing only yell more and louder and repeat every hour or two. Ask me how I know....

Repetition is key. Every time you do it, the yelling sessions get shorter and shorter. Eventually it becomes normal and the yelling miraculously stops. Just keep up the good work guys. You're almost there.

A little of this and a little of that.
That's funny and I wish it were true in my situation. I've been married to the same woman for 23 years and (to me anyway) the yelling seems to get louder and more frequent when it comes to money. Telling me I don't want her to have her needs met. She wants a 100k in the checking and have 2-3 million saved for retirement. She continually reminds me of that. Other than that she's a great girl.

I hear you on all of the above!

When I put on my spacer lift, it was my first time attempting something as big as this plus, I had a driveway and lived in the country. Wasn't a problem and had buddies I could bum a floor jack from (stock won't do jack shit except on the LCA after installation)
Now last weekend I got my BOSS installed at a shop since I like in midtown Memphis.....options were the street (nope) a gravel parking lot behind my quadplex (hell no) a parking lot across from my house (head would have to be on a swivel and one hand on my .45 ACP so...nope). Ended up bringing it to a shop. Eh...do what you gotta do huh?

My tools now live in four places...my under seat storage in my truck, about 2/3rds of the linen closet, the basement (luckily me and the property manager hit it off and he allowed me to put some big stuff down there) and my dad's garage back in Louisiana.
Moving was a bitch with all that crap! LOL

I'd give you a hand if I lived further out west!!
Come on guys! Let's see who's out there near Orange Beach and Seal Beach. Give this dude some help!! I'm sure you'll get a few beers and good convo out of it!!

The point is if she went out and purchased that purse and not telling him the true cost....

My point is no purse should cost as much as a lift, wheels, and tires. Women get so ripped off. And that purse is actually moderately priced. My sister in law just bought a $6000 purse last month. Absolutely ridiculous. That's a lift, wheels, tires, skid plates, on board air, bed rack, RTT, tinted windows, and an oil change!!! :annoyed:

It was a bit of a joke. Yea she shook her head and told me I'm dumb for spending that kind money on the truck but she also knew I had planned on building up the truck and expected me to be spending money, I just didn't go through details of each part and price. We trust each other with finances and don't freak out if the other spends money.
was the point of your post to be funny or to be a jerk I don't want to take anything the wrong way but it came off as the latter.
Edit: not sure why I took that post the way I did. Re-reading it, it didn't come off the way it did the first time

Well, what you think is ridiculous isn't to someone else. People can't understand why I build Jeeps to destroy them, and I don't even try.

No, I thought it was funny. I was sure you embellished a bit on her chewing your ass.

I do find it funny on the differences between what men and women think is ridiculous for items. Guys can drop huge amounts on cars/trucks/mods and not even bat an eye (this is so me). Hell, in between November 12' and April of 13' I dropped 100K on two vehicles...and I don't own either of them today. Some women can have thousands wrapped up in diamonds/jewelry and many other items that we would never spend money on.

Interesting is the differences between men and women (not all of course).

Too true. She just can't understand why I bought a brand new truck and want to change things on it... And I can't understand why she buys dresses that she can only wear once!

Nice on the Kings!! I always ask for permission on my upgrades and the answer is ALWAYS the same: "Hun as long as we have what we need 1st and the family is taken care of and you have crossed your T's and dotted you I's, do as you wish."

My wife is pretty cool with this stuff as well. It is always me that second questions everything. Plus i know how much is in savings and what trips, home improvement, school, daycare, etc stuff we need money for. Hard to spend money on the truck knowing that it could have gone to something family related and not just me. Trying to not be to selfish i guess.
