    2020 SR5 4x4 5.7. OCI 10K since new. Currently 50K

Looked good from what I could tell. Aluminum was a little high.

    Thoughts?

Are you using a KN air filter?

IMO, Seems to be several indicators that 10k mile OCIs are too long for your use.

Yeah that’s the reason I got one done. Hopefully I haven’t screwed up my engine yet. Probably switch to 5K OCI going forward.

Other than the Aluminum what suggests that? Trying to learn.

High silicone levels can be because of dirt, anti foaming additives in the oil or sealers used on the engine. To me seeing both silicone and aluminum levels elevated makes me think of dirt entering the intake and the abrasive affect once suspended in the oil.

Your TBN started around 7. Under 2 is getting really worn/used. As I understand it, this is essentially a measure of the additives in the oil being consumed.

Flashpoint is also out of spec low - flashpoint can drop as oil ages. Lower flashpoint can lead to oil consumption. Virgin oil analysis shows Toyota oil new should have a flashpoint around 435.

I know next to nothing about any of this, but I use Schaeffer's 9000 oil. When I was buying a case a guy who obviously knows more about oil than I ever will asked if I was going 10k between oil changes.

I said no, 5k at the most. He said good, as modern advances in oil can certainly last 10k miles, the filters (air and oil) have not progressed like oil has and aren't intended on making it that many miles. Their breakdown causes issues with the oil at higher mile changes.

To be honest, I grew up in the 3k/3months crowd and it's even a bit difficult to go to 5k miles. I could never go 10k!

We must be around the same age. I also grew up with 3k oil changes with Dino oil. I do 5k now. No way will I go 10k, just can't.

To the OP, I have been wanting to look into the airbox. From what I have read and can remember, Toyota changed from 4 clips to 2 clips. I know that on my airbox, I can see a bit of the filter. Hard to explain. Go look where the air lid slides in on the back side. That back side to me doesn't look like a good seal. I have been wanting to look into switch it back to the old style that has 4 clips.

Car Care Nut on youtube says 5k or 6 months, regardless of mileage. Has examples of cylinder wall scoring around 150k. Starts to burn oil due to gummed up rings from varnishes. 6 months regardless of mileage due to fuel contamination/varnishes.

I know color is not always a indicator but this is Mobil 1 5w30 after 5000 miles. Just change it yesterday. I can hear when its getting close to 5k because it starts to sound like it running on 0w20.

Thanks to everyone for the replies. Going forward I’m doing 5K OCI.

Now should I worry about the previous 50K miles on 10 K OCI or am I making a mountain out of. Molehill ?

Never worry about things you can't change.

Selling it before major issues because of 10k oil changes, thats a totally different story.

Totally kidding. Its the past. Live and learn. Won't do any good to worry.

Hmm looking at my analysis I didn’t see anything that screamed that I messed up my engine and should dump it because of long term reliability. Did I miss something ?

    No problemo, bud!
Sale this truck immediately... loss of compression and oil consumption are imminent.

In future, use *Spraynards OCI rule: first 500, then 1000, then every 5000.

I could see yards but only a fool would push the OCI to those numbers using meters.

10k OCI but you indicated you last changed the filter 15k miles ago. When was the filter changed before that?

I didn’t mean to indicate that. Oil and filter changed every 10K at dealership

I have not read all these replies, but when I look at the analysis I think you may have an air filter that is due for a change. A dirty air filter will result in additional particulate intake. If your tubing checks out change your air filter.

Air filter changed @ 35 K. So 15K on it. I’ll go ahead and replace it. Anyone know part number 2020 Tundra?
