Smoking the right way is hard work. Pulled them out to add the juices and wrap them up an hour and a half ago. This is what they looked like before the wrap.

Why not get Traeger or even Weber as approved vendors here. They are getting a heck of a lot free adverts and good reviews. Time for them to pay it forward. Wheeling and grilling go together..........

I scooped up three slabs of baby backs, it's a beautiful Western NC to day to load up the Traeger. So quick removal of membrane, a slather of mustard, a special heavy dose of dry rub...and bam! haha..on they go for Traeger 3,2,1 ribs. Now I can go run a few errands in town. :D

Just laid em in the smoker...
    image.jpg

Let them bathe in heavy Apple smoke for 3 hrs, then tightly wrap in foil with a little apple juice for 2 hrs on slow and go at 225d, then pull them out of the foil and back in the smoker for another hour with a special BBque glaze to caramelize on low heat. Will post up a pic when they are done.

Traeger 1,2,3 baby back ribs done. The hardest part is lifting the racks out of the smoker without them falling apart. BBCue gloves get it done.

So i was able to run my 400 watt inverter for the entire duration of the cooking. 5 and a half hours. I started my truck for the initial start up of the trager let it reach the temp i wanted then turned the truck off. Cooked for the whole time and battery voltage only dropped to 12.2v. Also to note my battety i have is xs d3100.

The Traeger uses very little current to run the fan or blower. The hot rod to light the wood pellets shuts down shortly after the fire begins, the auger, fan, and internal heat thermostat do the rest of the work with very little draw.

Glad to see your results but not at all surprised.

What is that, looks like a converted mini fridge! LOL. I worked in a restaurant restaurant long before pellet smokers. We made one out of a stainless steel dish sanitizer. My boss spent less than $20 on a single burner hot plate and a small cast iron skillet. That thing worked great but yes it was labor intensive.

Yup but i don't use woodchips. I went to http://www.amazenproducts.com and got one of their maze tray smokers. The woodchip burner kind of sucks on these models. Not horrible but you always have to be adding more wood. The maze tray you fill with pellets and it'll burn for 10 hours. My smoker is the 2nd gen and I think it's around 200. I got it as a present so I'm not 100% on it

I definitely suggest getting a pellet maze. Works way better. Use the maze for your smoke and the smoker for your heat control. I bought a 3 in metal elbow to put in the vent to help draw smoke

That's what made me think it was a home made smoker. So, when you don't have any mods to do to your truck you modded your smoker. Awesome!

We're not just tundra bros round here. Born to mod shit! My friends growing up called my shit amadofied. Skateboards, bicycles, whatever, had to change something. Stock is boring, I even upgraded the speakers in my boombox.

What pellet maze did you use I have the same smoker just a newer gen with the outlet on the top. I'm going to do the chimney idea but bend it sideways so the smoke has a harder time traveling.

Ms Patriot wanted some dry rubbed Apple wood smoked chicken diced up over her iceberg salad this evening, so I fired up the Traeger. Will post up when I pull em off the smoker.
