Had an 05, ever since then kept to the tundra. Test drove others through the years, yeah Ford,Dodge,Chevy. All had nice gadgets while the tundra didn’t but, there was just something about the drive of the truck others didn’t have. Have a 2016 Chevy Z71 and and was bouncing as hell. My wife got nauseous sitting in the passenger seat because of the rough ride. Want back to the tundra. I remember the T100 and even then when I drove one it just felt different compared to the others. Toyota put there money into the drive while others into gadgets.

Now I have a 2020 and this is the first year with remote start, apple, android play, and some other safety things that all the rest already had. Test drove all the others and still bought the tundra. Had a deal on a Ram my payment would of been 40 cheaper but no go. Also looked at the retail in years to come. There’s one thing Toyota has is they have better value.

good luck with your new Tundy and welcome from PA

Sad day. Found some rust on my frame last week. I took it to a body shop and there suggested I replace the frame. I spoke to the selling dealership ( a real dealership not a mom and pop car lot) and they are wiling to buy back the truck. Should I let them do it? I also have an appointment with the Toyota dealer to inspect the frame again, the first time they said it was ok, but I don't think they looked that close. Here is a picture of some of the damage.

Need some wisdom from other 1st Gen Tundra owners. What would you do? Turn it back in or try to get it fixed?IMG_4876.HEIC.jpg

Ouch, that sucks, otherwise so clean looking.
You’re lucky though, you have a out. Unless the dealer is willing to install a new frame, I would let them buy it back, and if they do offer a new frame, know that it might take a while to get done.
I don’t have any personal experience with a frame swapped Tundra, but I have read that even with a new frame, many other components that they don’t replace often have a fair amount of rust.
See what they offer in terms of repair before deciding.

Call Toyota corporate to find out if there’s any recall or service campaign going on to replace the frame from premature rust.

    Can’t hurt to try.

    1) If Toyota will put new frame on for free, then do it.

    2) If Toyota will not pay to put on new frame, then sell it back and rid yourself of this truck.

Thanks everyone. I took the truck to my Toyota dealership today for a complete examination of the frame. If they will replace the frame, I’m gonna let them do it. If not, I’m gonna let the selling dealership buy back the truck.

Kinda good news. I took the truck to my local Toyota dealer and the suggested I return the vehicle to the selling dealer because my frame was not covered. I drove the truck back (really dreading parting with the vehicle) to the dealer and they will buy back the truck. It was a small hole in the frame but the truck had a lot of rust. I purchased the truck when it was raining so the water hid all of the rust. I didn't get a good look at the rust until a few days after my sale. I told my son, "If it's too good to be true, it usually is". The truck body his immaculate, the interior is spotless, the mileage is less than 90K but the frame was rotted. I am hesitant to start looking for another truck because of the time I put into this one. Oh well, the right truck will turn up. I just wished I hadn't order the center caps because I turned in the truck today. Oh well, I could put them on my 2007 Tundra. Thanks for your replies.
