The Gen 3s don't drive like my truck, neither. They messed with the fuel maps - not nearly as fun in the Gen 3 versions.

    Is this highly debated?
I call it a 3rd gen because people call it a 3rd gen. I dont really care. Call it a 2.5gen.. or v2.1 (2007-2013 being v2.0)... but at the end of the day it'll probably be a 3rd gen until whatever else we want to call it get's widely adopted... or until 2020(?) when the True 3rd gen's drop and everyone get's confused lol

A major power train change, and/or major drive train change, and/or major body change, and/or major suspension geometry change>>>>>>>>>>New Generation traditionally. Not a new grill or bumper.

I have a great friend who is Panamanian and couldn’t pronounce his H so the H was silent!

I think I have solved this long debated ordeal,

It must be called the Turd generation!

It wasn't just a new grille or bumper. As a previous poster pointed out, the only sheet metal that made it through the "refresh" was the cab and the doors. Everything else changed - front and rear fenders, tailgate, hood, grille, bumpers. Plus, the interior was completely redesigned.

I know this is just a goofy semantics argument, but is there a % change that must occur before it is an official "new gen"?

The 2014+ models look a lot different than the previous models. I wasn't a huge fan of how the Gen 1s looked, nor the Gen 2s (I didn't buy mine for the looks) - and I am really not a fan of the Gen 3 looks (no offense to Gen 3 owners). I actually wouldn't buy a Gen 3 because of it. Gen 2s are only a little bit ugly. But the Gen 3s? :anonymous::crapstorm:

We're talking about sheet metal/body changes....the "3rd gen's" underlying foundation (frame, chassis, engine and accompanying driveline) is pretty much the same as what the "2nd gen" has. Toyota updated the appearance, and maybe made a few tweaks here and there to certain components as all OEM's do with their designs.

The "3rd gen" is pretty much a "2nd gen" with an updated interior and exterior....it was petty to consider them 2 different generations to begin with (whoever made that decision). For most other OEM's, that's just considered a refresh, not a change in generations.

New Generations are determined by the manufacturer. For instance.....the venerable Mustang. There have been several official generations. Some really sucked. The Ford Bronco had a few generations. Huge differences. The Corvette...the Malibu...the International Scout (Scout II was great...).....the Jeep has had numerous generations over the years. Remember these are considered "official" generation changes. Wiki is usually pretty spot on when it comes to "official" generations with automobiles. There is no Toyota "official" 3rd gen Tundra. We here use 3rd Gen to distinguish the 14s and up. Makes it easy to deal with grilles and bumpers, etc........most of the Tundra is exactly the same from 07 and up. Power train, drive train, suspension, brakes, seats, crappy factory tires.....all the same. Most car and trucks over the years would get a new "look" every year or so to freshen up with some changes to grilles, bumpers, and sheet metal. No official generation change. This difference between the 1st gen Tundra and 2nd Gen Tundra is glaringly huge, whereas a new grille, bumper, and some sheet metal tweakage that still retained the main look of the Tundras from 14 up????

I love my 15 tundra. If it was a complete new drivetrain I wouldn’t have bought it, I would’ve waited for it to be out another year. That’s just my preference when they make new models nowadays. I like the bugs to get worked out.

Did they completely change the inside of the Glock pistols from generation to generation or did they just update the exterior a little?

Good point! I think both somewhat. Glocks haven't changed much as with most legendary firearms. A few tweaks here and there. The Marlin 336C is pretty much the same as the one I had 50 years ago. Same with Ruger 10/22. They still sell. People expect new car/truck models. Got to keep up the Jones'.
