I’m surprised no one is using aftermarket cats. I used to run those on all my high Hp cars with no issues. Are y’all averse because you just want oem or what’s the deal?

For mine, this happened on the dealer lot and they are paying for it, so I’m letting them put factory back on. They tried magna flow but they didn’t fit right and they weren’t comfortable running others.

Unfortunately, the Tundra’s ECM is somewhat finicky when it comes to aftermarket cats. My Magnaflow, which is supposedly on the high end of aftermarket quality (not sure how true that is, but it’s what two shops have told me), already threw a code less than a month after installation. I forget the exact code number, but the scanner described it as an “inefficiently running” catalytic converter. I cleared it, and it hasn’t come back on since, but it’s somewhat of a concern when it comes to annual emissions testing.

If the dealer is footing the bill for a rental and OEM cats, then at least the wait shouldn’t be too bad. My insurance only allows a 30-day rental. My truck sat in the driveway for two months before I relented and went aftermarket.

Anyway, how do you like the King Ranch?

Yea man they are paying it and we have been at 9 weeks so far.

Honestly, I have been pretty impressed with the King Ranch. I can’t compare it to the higher end Toyota’s, I haven’t driven or been in the newer models, but it’s a heck of a step up from my 08 SR5 haha. Interior is very nice. I’ve been pretty impressed with the 3.5 eco boost too, been averaging right at 22 mpg in the 3400 miles I’ve put on it.

Hopefully you won’t have to wait much longer.

A friend of mine welded up this rebar and it wasn't successful. They cut right though it with a dremel type tool.

I'm thinking the guys doing this probably struggle with reading...you might need something simple to send them a message....large treble hooks work good on gas thieves...they might work equally well on cat thieves...let us know how it works out...was able to track track the gas thief next door to his house....

My coworker had both his passenger side cats stolen last week. It was in our employee parking lot in broad daylight. He told me about this yesterday when I saw him at work. I have since ordered my CAT shield and it should be here next week. I have since parked my truck in my garage and will not drive it until I install the shield. Luckily I have my OneWheel Board to ride to work! haha

I ordered the CAT shield from MillerCAT. Cat Shield™ by MillerCAT – MillerCAT Corp They have it in stock!

I feel like it adds some time to the crime that will simply make them skip and go to the next car. Like most security items it's not a full proof.

I just ordered the cat shield for my 08 Tundra. flat security bolts with a unique bit. Also, made of aluminum (no rust), and covers a lot. Price increase tomorrow due to material cost i.e. inflation. free shipping and no tax too, which is always a plus. Here
