Just got a '16 Tundra and the head unit only has app for navigation. Being 68 I don't have a smartphone and will never have one. Is there a way to have the regular navigation without changing out the whole head unit.

Unfortunately, no. Why the aversion to smartphones?

I understand. My dad is just a few years younger than you and is pretty "anti-technology". It took him a while, but we finally got him to jump on board with getting a smartphone and he seems to be coping just fine ;). You don't even need a super expensive one, but they do give you a lot of functionality. Anyway, if you want GPS your options are pretty much either a new head unit, a standalone GPS, or a smartphone.

The App (scout) navigation will work if you just want listen to the directions verbally.

I no longer can test the Scout App because I switched to a OEM Nav deck. But I do remember that if I plugged the usb cable into my phone then the mapping software would work. If I did not use the usb cable then the verbal directions would work but not the mapping software. Hope that make sense.

I went to apps and pressed scout app, can't do anything without pairing smartphone. I am very tech inept so if there is any way to just get verbal without a smartphone I'm all for it

No, get a smartphone or pick up a Garmin some other stand alone navigation unit as they are cheap these days.
I personally would rather just have smartphone interface as the built in crap becomes obsolete over time and phones are always up to date. those Ford guys are going to shit when the 10" interface screen dies and they can't even start the truck without replacing it. Scout GPS sucks so I just use my phone on a dash mount and Google maps.

It sounds like you will not be able to use the Scout App without upgrading to a Smart phone. I have a 3 inch Tom Tom in my garage I'm not using, if you want it , pm me your address and I'll send it to you.

thanks for the offer, I have several stand alone units that I've accumulated over the years, I'll just keep one of those in the truck

Deck rail system, Bed divider, door sill protectors, LED reverse light bars, Aries Bull Bar with 28" 180 watt LED light bar, LED step lights, LED bed lights, driver-side grab handle, TRD Rear Sway Bar, BedRug bed mat and tailgate mat, Morimoto Fog Lights, more to come.....
I would just get a Garmin (I have a Nuvi) with life-time free map updates.

Edit: Oooops, I didn't read ahead before I posted. Sounds like you have the situation surrounded!
