So I have put roughly 500 miles on the Grip Pro and it is nothing short of awesome. My installer indicated my pinion bearing had a small amount of noise but if I didn't notice it prior than shouldn't be an issue after but wanted to point it out. The replacement of it would have added $900 to my original $225 qoute so passed on it for now or if one day I get gears I can address at that time.

None the less I went ahead and picked up the good stuff for diff fluid.

The completed pics of the 3rd member

Install was as smooth as removal. Definitely use a motorcycle jack if doing this solo unless your comfortable tossing around a 100lb medicine ball at the gym
    :benchpress:

Used Permatex 81182 gasket maker to seal her back up and let it sit overnight to dry before filling the diff fluid. I made sure to clean the inside of my housing really well prior to install using a rag and brake cleaner.

Break in the following day consisted of running errands while holding back from WOT launches. Everything was nice and quiet and felt good. The next day I went out for a few good launches and wow what a difference. Prior to the Grip Pro I could do nice rolling burnouts from 30mph and keep going straight, now she kicks the ass out with every hint of traction loss so tells me it's locking both tires. She does go straight on flat road on WOT take offs.

Engagement is quiet and I can't even tell it's back there in addition to making it more predictable and stable while "Hooning". I don't have to do anything special to lock them up either. Just drive normal and throttle input actuates it when needed, really its that easy.

My new best 0-60 is 5.8 with a full tank of gas and my wife giving me an angry look in passenger seat spinning into 2nd gear...

That is awesome! I had two modded Cummins trucks w/worm gear units, and a 12 bolt car GM in a hot rod w/a Truetrac. All 3 of these would leave equal position marks on the road.

Hey, I see Nitro (I think it was intro) has one of these now. It looks totally identical. I wonder if it is the same unit.

I would love to see a cool burnout/launch in your modded single cab. (That has to be like 1500/2000 (?) pounds less than a 4x4 Crew Max.

    Nice mod TX210!

Sharing a video I shot this morning with a quick 25-60 pull & 1/8 Mile. Currently on NO TUNE, just OEM and AFRs hovering around 12.5 on WOT so she is happy with it. The mid range is nice and meaty and breaks traction easily even with the LSD so I'm looking fwd to improving trans behavior once OV Tune lands. 100% NA efforts here folks :curls:

CEL on for P0393 Crank Position Sensor so I'm sure she will run better once addressed and I still haven't fixed the miles on the swapped Optitron cluster lol

Apologize for the shaky camera, she likes to dance..

I hit up our capital today to pickup an exhaust for my IS350 and saw a good photo opportunity at an old school arcade. MEGA MAN FTW !

So I decided to update my grill and purchased the grill insert from Alibaba ($120) & emblem insert from Ebay for a Tacoma ($30)

. All in I landed at $155 to my door which isnt bad for a TRD Pro look on the old girl.

Was straight fwd with swapping out although the OEM insert was a pain to remove. I ended up getting wire cutters and clipping the black clips holding the insert onto the white trim and it finally came out easy. I didnt plan on keeping the OEM insert anyways.

Looks good man. I wonder what the weight difference actual is between Stock SR5 18's like mine and these? 20's are inherently heavier so i fully expected a difference. Would be nice to know more of an apples to apples comparison.

Not much. From what I've read here on this site, the BBSs are ~27.something pounds. I have a set of the standard alloy 18s in my garage without tires and I just checked one of them on a scale and it came in at 28.7 pounds.

Hmmmm, the most popular comment I have gotten on my truck is that I need a set of these wheels. These actually look better than I thought they would. I may have to look into getting a set.

Not enough variance to justify the cost unless your after looks. I happened to stumble upon these for under $900 with great tires. One of those deals I was looking in the right spot at the right time.

I did go from stock tire size 20s to stock tire size 18s though because I discovered that I prefer the ride of the 18s over the 20s for our broken roads and the kind of driving that I do. My initial rationale was indeed for looks, and exclusivity, but the ride preference was unforeseen and compelled me to transition.

Yes, you were looking in the right place at the right time, well done.

Just read through every post on this thread. Truck looks sick. I need to do the gauge swap for sure. Do you have a link or anything that tells me all the models/years I can swap in?

Thanks ! From what I recall any of the optitron clusters will work. They were exclusive to the limited trims. The one I installed was from an 08 4.7 Limited DC.

An update here. Picked up a low mile TRD intake locally for $140 and couldn't pass that up. AFE has been replaced.

The TRD intake threw my OVtune off some causing my cold start idle to hover in the 2k RPM range. This tells me more air is being introduced. The TRD box is larger in volume and diameter of intake pipe slightly larger as well so expected an increase just didn't think enough to effect tune. Got that fixed and she runs great now :curls:

I added easy to swap exhaust options recently. Purchased a pair of Beyea 3in tips and flanges for that rowdy hot rod sound. Also have my tailpipes which can be bolted on within 30mins or so to quiet it down.

My right foot has never been heavier with these turndowns

    Sounds clip to follow !

Another update here. I recently decided I wanted to go lower and with my existing SOS rear lower kit I have the option between 3.25in - 5in so purchased their 2in front only kit that was on sale recently to match.

I used the settings on rear shackle to highest point and being im RCSB the weight would not net a full 5in but rather 4.25 or so when compared to the heavier siblings. The front was straight fwd using the video @ViktorG put out which was extremely helpful (TY Viktor) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KkgOw9JkqI8

The ride is so much more plush yet handling has increased noticeably and happy I went this route.

    Before:

After with 10psi in rear bags (sits lower once deflated):

Looks good. Wish I could go a little lower on mine with my SOS.

Recently added silicone radiator hoses and Mishimoto 160* thermostat. I wanted to enhance cooling efficiency and add bling under the hood. Operating Temps do not exceed 179* and hang around 175* during normal driving.

    And added a hood decal

    Interior updates to follow !

Another update here. My headliner needed some love as it started sagging up front some. I was originally going to go red suede but decided to keep it classic and chose Dark Charcoal suede as it went with the current interior color scheme. Also swapped out my leatherette seats for a set of 2017 seats for better Katzin options later.

Looks sick. I got a little over zealous on mine and did Katzkinz for my original seats but wish I'd have waited and found some later model seats.

Added a new HU for the 3rd time as I wanted a larger screen from the current Atoto 8in. I know I'm sick o_O I paired it up with a Skar SVR 8in sub/Skar 350.1 amp that fits perfectly behind console with amp mounted under seat. This combo now hits the spot from my prior Cerwin Vega slim sub under the seat.

Corehan 10in Android. Looked great but user interface sucked ass and could not be customized so returned after 1 week -

Atoto 10in QLED Android. Great quality and fully customizable Android interface. This thing is awesome -

    Skar 8in sub fitment -
